Yeah, it really is creepy and unimportant.
Its why I never believed the narratives of mass exodus from Microsoft Studios (Arkane as the last FUD target) after the fact, because we’d be inundated with every single departure from the studios as they happened if it was true. That never happened, so no mass exodus.
Xbox has like how many studios? 32 right!
There studios can cover every quarter for 8 years dev cycle game for next 8 years.
Nick also hinted at a 15 year roadmap, If they can hit all those goals without any crunching or massive delays. Xbox has the rest of this gen and the next already planned out.
I thought it was actually much higher.
Klobrille’s last image has them with over 40 and that doesnt even seem to count all the individual locations (MachineGames just opened another studio in Sweden).
Either way its crazy considering we know they intend to acquire more.
I think at a certain point studio count becomes kinda arbitrary, so many studios of differing sizes and team counts it stops really telling you much more than “they’re big”. They are pretty big though.
True, I think the only thing we can take from it is they are now in it for the long haul. Even if their next console somehow flops (very unlikely) they will still continue to deliver a large number of great Xbox titles.
The number of studios is higher, indeed.
It is hard to count. Some studios have multiple teams (like Playground), some studio work together for an common game (like COD), some will not produce AAA or restrain to mobile.
I thought leak was bad and should be avoided at all costs because “reasons” …
And MS is still looking to acquire more…
The factual outlook for MS gaming with Xbox looks undeniably positive. It’s sad some gamers are hoping Xbox stops making game consoles and goes completely 3rd party. Just for comparisons sake, Sony’s outlook and financial situation is forcefully pushing them the multi-platform direction. Since MS launched the OG Xbox to compete with the entertainment giant Sony and the massively successful PS2, here are the market facts.
Sony
-
Market Cap - $38.4 B (2002yr) - $116.31 B (2023yr)
-
Earnings - $2.65 B (2002yr) - $7.76 B (2023yr)
Microsoft
-
Market Cap - $276.63 B (2002yr) - $2.793 T (2023yr)
-
Earnings - $13.96 B (2002yr) - $95.02 B (2023yr)
I had a lot of fun playing the PS2 at my cousins house back in the day, but with my part-time job in highschool I purchased my own very first console, The Xbox. They changed the industry with their push for play-anywhere, day and date PC, and gamepass. Sony PS will have to compete and expand their market, it’s a win win for gamers.
While I believe a banjo game is in development, I also believe these “insiders” are full of it. How hard is it to say a banjo game is in development?
I hope it is real and they get someone who will keep its charm.
Why are so many people now predicting that Avowed will be delayed? Why cant we ever just have a positive community
Because New Year Resolution must be kept and that is keep the bad news rolling. No matter the cost.
No wolverine this year so MS games must wait too, in the minds of fanboys
Probably cause it’s due in the next year and we haven’t seen much of it. I don’t think there’s much more to it than that. These days though Microsoft tends to be more cautious on showing games till they are ready, and so far been no insider indication it might not hit 2024 - so I think we’ll still see it release on time, but if it needs more time so be it
I’m a huge banjo-kazooie fanboy so they really have to nail this. We know Rare won’t be making it as they don’t work on older IPs, but they need to be there at least in some form, like the consulting they did for KI and Battletoads, although KI I think was mostly Ken Lobb but still, Gregg Mayles probably still cares about his franchise and most likely wants what’s best for it.
MS can’t mess this up honestly, as this is the kind of game that buys a lot of goodwill with the gaming populace!
NateDrake has a pretty well proven track record, don’t they?
