Xbox Game Studios |OT12| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

I thought putting in 400 hours into a game was impressive. Now I hear the ‘bar’ for RPG has to be 1000+ hours, perhaps even 2000 hours to be considered epic engagement.

Alot of it is review bombing. People creating new alt accounts just to review bomb again. Sony fanboys are desperate try and kill it off. Such a sad and pathetic bunch of gamers.

So, it’s time for the people who actually enjoy the game to move on from the ones constantly posting negative reviews in bad faith but, what? It’s cool if a great game continues to get negative reviews in bad faith?

Seems a bit backwards to me. I enjoy the living hell out of Starfield and it’s a bit frustrating to see the attempts to try and kill it. Especially when there were a group of gamers who actually said they would do this very thing.

Then you’ve got the people who have read the same shit I read from these toxic gamers, and then act like the negative commentary is somehow warranted when you know exactly what’s going because it was stated in the first place.

If nothing, people have got to realize how much of an unprecedented event this is? Four months and Starfield is STILL getting smashed out with hate pieces and random negative reviews. What other game has seen this kind of activity in the last…decade? Maybe even two?

In short, no. I dont think fans of the game should move on. Maybe it’s the seething, rabid fanboys who need to find another carousel to ride.

lol game has a good MC score and 13 million players (I only bring this up because of the consensus is supposedly important in these types of discussion) but the game is a “flop”.

Didn’t you read the articles stating the game needed to be one of the greatest games ever made in order to save Xbox? A mere “good” MC score and only 15 million players is clearly a failure. Now, Hellblade 2 needs to be the game, because time is running out for Xbox apparently.

Xbox will never fail because it will never have a critical game to relay on. Infact, xbox has so many pillars right now that avg performance of these pillars is enough to keep Xbox alive for generations

And then we have COD and Gamepass :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

First month after release Steam reviews were mostly great (8/10) and I even used to watch a streamer who commented on that and contrasted it to the negativity game is receiving in websites and social media etc and was saying he’s enjoying it and players are too. Eventually the negativity took over the perception and all the later reviews got worse and worse, and even people who played for hundreds of hours can be on those negative reviews. Expressing positivity about the game is met with scrutiny a lot of the time, so even those who liked it almost can’t admit it… it’s just crazy.

Starfield has been played by 13 million players in two months with an average of 40 hours of gameplay (more or less 1h a day). What other metrics do you want to satisfy ? Do you really expect the medias to acknowledge that ?

After watching various Xbox centric podcasts in the last few months it’s pretty apparent that the negative “general consensus” which surrounded the game impacted the opinions of some people that initially (at least from their own impressions when they played/finished the game) seemed to love it. Which is quite sad in it’s own right if you ask me but I guess that many of those don’t want to be the “weird ones” that like Starfield.

It’s quite impressive how 5-6 very questionable reviews by some outlets included on metacritic swayed the general opinion on the game in the negative side which actually started quite positive. Thank god there are still some dudes like Boom who still admit that they love the game and stand by their opinions, the only sure thing is that I won’t take seriously anymore those who changed opinions on the game after a month because some attention seeking clown gave the game a 4/10.

It’s reminding me of Bioshock Infinite discourse almost the exact same.

PC gaming has always had cut offs for lower end CPUs and GPU… it’s why they have minimum requirements.

PC gaming is also cross generational… Each CPU or GPU release belongs to a generation… eventually those parts need upgraded to meet the users preference for gaming in future years, just like a console needs a new generation for increased computing power. The difference with PC parts is that by and large mid ro high range components are more powerful than those found in console APUs and you get higher graphical settings over many years compared to the consoles.

Huh? Wasn’t Bioshock Infinite fairly well liked at first (even many thought it would beat TLoU for GotY)? I personally did not like it. I haven’t played any other Bioshock game, so I don’t really have a point of comparison for it in the series.

Bioshock Infinite was liked and fine for like a month and then everybody started turning on it and hating it

There’s nothing better for engagement farming than negativity or controversy, it’s just everywhere nowadays

Whether it’s games, marvel movies or anything else, it’s much more beneficial in modern social media to be negative, you can keep videos and tweets going endlessly and people will keep clicking whether you believe what you are saying or not

It’s a big reason why I don’t even bother with twitter anymore and if I see some bull pop up in recommended youtube videos I immediately block the channel, I’m done with the endless rage bait

These employment stalking posts are a bit weird, unless it’s leadership positions imho.

Agreed, lol. Always creeped me out that people are stalking low level engineers and publicizing their every move. It’d be like people I don’t know discussing every time I change jobs, I just don’t happen to be in the same industry. Creepy af IMO. They getting celebrity levels of ‘privacy’ without celebrity level compensation.

Agreed , I think people need to cool down with because lots of movement in industry . I assume many leave once a project is done, so it’s whatever . I think we should only care if leadership position. Also, unsure if the person wants that extra attention
