Yes it’s not one big world, but the zones are pretty decently big still, so would have some of the open-world considerations regardless, I believe.
I skimmed thought but all the combat shown in TP I saw was aim-based movements, no melee shown, unless I missed it. But regardless it looks good, at least good enough for exploration and stealth, if not for full combat. Will be switch back and forth situation dependant like in Starfield.
This is gonna be one of the best games next year
Avowed looks really good, like, not just for an Obsidian game. Especially interior environments and the open areas at nighttime seriously look gorgeous…
I don’t want to see more of it myself and keep it all for release, but have some towns or cities been shown more?
Yes, very brief glimpses of at least two towns
Nice! Looking forward to it.

This game got such a negative response initially. Like absurdly negative for what was shown. One podcast I semi regularly used to listen to said almost mockingly: “I can’t believe this is the first Obsidian game under Microsoft.”, or something like that.
I do hope they hit it out of the park.
Has Obsidian ever not delivered when they had a real budget to work with? I can’t think of anything tbh.
Edit.: Also, those screenshots look fucking gorgeous.
You can always count on them. Only time they “failed” was that Protocol game but the story behind it will tell you why it’s not their fault.
Hey!!!
Alpha Protocol was fucking cool. They made it in two weeks with duct tape and scraps, it barely functions, but it’s COOLER than so many polished and shiny AAA games! You can be an asshole during cutscenes and it affects the story and has a romance system that’s better than most romance systems, ever. Alpha Protocol 2 would be my dream next Obsidian game.
I expect that the reviews will be the complete opposite of the previews, because that’s how they make their money.
Doesn’t Sega own it? If only Sega back then was today’s, that game’s reception would have been a lot more pleasing.
Wouldn’t be the first time. Double dip on the engagement.
They do/did, though it looks (to an untrained observer like me) as though the trademark may have been allowed to expire back in 2021.
You’ll be safe then if you watch today’s Headlines.
Bonus: sad Sik
Yep, it’s SEGA. Back then SEGA was all over the place, but honestly Obsidian were always being screwed over by every publisher back then
Obsidian made Fallout New Vegas in basically a single year. Anyone doubting Obsidian’s ability to make fun games is an idiot.
I feel in general doubting them is foolish. They low key had one of the best 10 year run in gaming. I understand they didn’t get 90+ metacritic games, but this is a very strong run of games, so doubting them is foolish
