Agreed. However, when you say AC you mean Assassin’s Creed right? Outside of Valhalla which just felt off when compared to Origins/Odyssey, I never had an issue with the combat in AC. Even the older ones where I would parry/execute most of the time and im bad at parrying in games. lol
Yeah, Assassin’s Creed (not Armored Core, which to be fair had a bit of a hiatus far too long). My biggest problem with the combat system starting with Origins is that it felt like a massive step backward from the song-and-dance rhythm that the old games utilized.
I actually feel the opposite. I think the Origins/Odyssey combat is better because it’s deeper and requires more (albeit little) strategy than the older games. If I use a heavy axe, it does more damage but is slower on the swing which leaves me open to enemy attacks. If I use twin blades, swords, I get more attacks off at a faster pace but with less damage output.
If anything, I see the older combat like in Black Flag for example as obsolete. Funny thing is that the older games also had the “stance” problem that I mentioned with The Witcher 3 where as in Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla, you’re only in the “stance” if you’re locked on to a specific enemy.
That town stroll part in the Fable trailer looked awesome. I have so many questions…
Will NPCs be very reactionary to the player? Or only when using expressions (assuming they are actually in there) will NPCs overall have unique behaviour? If we see rivers, can we go in, swim? Can we enter homes? I believe in all three Fable games we could?
I’m looking forward to seeing more of this game the most of all XGS projects.
I have all of these on 360 and would love to be able to play them, and Web of Shadows, through GP or at least BC.
Cybertron games and Platinum’s Devastation are legitimately incredible games, really high in the list of proper licenced comic IP games but came at a time where people associated licenced games with bad quality.
Fully agree, and I honestly prefer games like Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions over the current Spidey game crop.
Did not like Spider-Man games much outside of the first PS1 game from Activision
Totally agree, all 3 games are great fun (though the loot in Devastation was completely unnecessary IMO)! I’d love to replay both Cybertron games and Devastation, I have retail copies for all 3 games (the 360 versions of Cybertron and the One version of Devastation) but it’d be great to be able to get them digitally.

I hope you like them extra sweaty.
Regarding Avowed and Obsidian saying they’re still working on the performance target.
I assume they’re using Lumen, I found no confirmation of this, but if they are, with dynamic night-day cycle and open-world, I will not be confident that they get 60fps, and if they do, I will be genuinely impressed.
They can do unlocked 30+ if they can’t lock it on 60.
The third person mode looks good. I haven’t seen videos, does the combat also happen in third person? Meaning it becomes like a traditional melee combat, not aim-based?

I’m staying away from Avowed impressions, as I’d rather go in blind, but I saw this post with links to six different outlets, and figured it seemed like a good repository of previews:
Great summary, for those that want to know more. I won’t read it, I’ll go in fresh as much as possible.
I thought Avowed is zone based like Dragon Age Veilguard, or at least I remember that being announced?
