… start around 2028 and Phil saying elder scrolls 6 is 5+ years away that means it could likely come out in year 1-2 of the next console.
That being said I would very much like it and other big games to not be cross gen. My thought is 1) focusing on next gen only allows games to not be held back and 2) it allows for better optimization/less technical issues since focus isn’t split between many consoles.
What are the chances that Microsoft doesn’t make cross gen games in the traditional sense. Instead they release natively only on the new console, and choose to stream those games. to series s/x.
Is that not feasible to do in 2028, and if not why. Or is it just a bad idea, and if so why.
Edit- series s/x could essentially become the streaming box that Microsoft has toyed around with releasing.
It will be crossgen but just like Zelda BOTW, people are going to buy the new hardware to play it

I think it will be cross gen, mainly due to the cost of development and the consoles themselves. As for limiting it to streaming on older consoles, it really depends on how much their streaming tech improves by then and how many users would be willing to do so.

The fact that ES is 5-6 years away is good. It means MS will have to fund many other games in the meantime.

Interesting. The Coalition is hiring for their new Xbox Games Technology Group.
There have been many mentions in interviews that they have helped other studios with their games, but this looks like a dedicated group just for that purpose.
“At The Coalition Studio, through our work on the acclaimed Gears of War franchise, we are tackling these problems head-on by leading engine innovation, developing technical showcase technologies, and delivering world class workflows, tools and features that are adopted across the wider Xbox Game Studios organization. ”
Also, looks like The Coalition is using Machine Learning for "generative animations, automated testing using reinforcement learning agents and generative images/video to facilitate concept ideation ".

Yeah, the bit about TES VI surprised me a little. With the new engine now complete, Starfield complete, all that experience, bigger teams I think too? And the game likely not being as big in scope as Starfield…i was hoping for 4 years or so. Perhaps the majority of the team stays on Starfield expansion(s) and general updates for a while first.
I do remember that message when the Dragonborn expansion had come out from BGS that they were moving on to their next adventure, all hands on deck. Which turned out to be Fallout 4. So I guess a big part of the team isn’t necessarily jumping straight onto TES VI.
But who knows, maybe they got some crazy ambitious stuff planned for it.

I don’t really expect it to be smallee in scope. It won’t have a thousand plans but I am sure it comes with its own challenges.

True that.
In the meantime we’re gonna explore ever nook and cranny in Starfield, play the expansion(s), check out MANY mods, play Avowed while we wait too and so much more.
It does make me wonder how far away Fallout 5 is, but I’m also immediately gonna cease thinking about it because risk of depression is very big, lmao. I don’t even want to know what my age will be around that time.

Not only that but their website basically mentions that know UE, so it is just more evidence that TC is increasingly gaining a prominent role within Xbox when it comes to tech.

I really, really hope so, Jez. Because man, the wait otherwise is gonna be excruciating. And I honestly don’t think the franchise should lie dormant for so insane long.
But who knows…Xbox has many RPGs coming, Starfield, Avowed, ToW 2, Fable, Clockwork Revolution, perhaps they are fine with it. But hope not, imagine a new Fallout that isn’t Fallout 5 between Starfield and TES VI. I’d love it.

I don’t think it means anything. It’s just some place holder I’m sure.

They update and refine their engine with every game. Ya I think probably half(maybe more) of the starfield devs will stay on starfield dlc.
Imo a big priority for Xbox should be to grow BGS into two powerhouse rpg teams. Honestly think the same for ID software, two teams.

Does this pre-install news indicate Avowed and Clockwork Revolution would release before Hellblade 2?
Typically there would be pre-install only if the release date is within a year.
Not necessarily, as you can also pre-download South of Midnight too.
Pretty sure I’ve done it in advance for games longer than a year that hide in the background.
It’s a great feature

I had thoughts it might be. Kind of like Riddick : Escape from Butcher Bay when the Machine Games guys were at Starbreeze

Wonder how that would work for Indiana Jones though. Exploration in third, combat in first? It’s been an eternity that I played Riddick.
Or there’s a second tweet.

Aside from Riddick there aren’t many games that do this, right?
