Xbox Game Studios |OT10| Here are the games

It’s just another opinion and sometimes from a different perspective. As for “clicks”, just like Microsoft is in the gaming business for money, youtubers are no different. If it’s their livelihood, they have to go based on youtube’s metrics and whatnot or otherwise, they won’t be as successful.

I agree with what you’re saying and I have said the same thing but at the same time, there’s people here who will bash YouTubers or McCaffrey or whoever because they’re critical of Xbox without realizing that maybe for them, Microsoft has failed them and want to act as if they’re overreacting because of one bad game when perhaps for them, it’s multiple things. Should they explain that better? Absolutely but why so many here get upset or bash others because they have a different opinion isn’t making themselves look any better than who or what they’re getting upset about.

Because some people can actually tell the difference from genuine criticism and what they’re doing. When I see certain games outright dismissed and or ignored in order to push a narrative I call it out because if their arguments were sound they wouldn’t need to leave things out in order for them to work. Ryan McCaffery was “critical” of Xbox getting the Tomb Raider exclusivity for a year while praising Sony for doing exactly the same thing, he was “critical " of Xbox for not cancelling Grounded in order to put Obsidian in the Fallout mines for the next decade like Activision with COD, he goes on Twitter about how " Xbox fans will someday have a critically acclaimed game like Zelda” Ignoring the one that was shadow dropped in January because if he acknowledged it’s existence he can’t push his narrative now can he. So lets pretend that Redfall was the first Xbox release of the year. I can go on and on, after a while one begins to notice a pattern with certain people.

If it’s as you say and he feels xbox “failed” him, he’s likely one of those that wants Xbox to be “Green Playstation” and to those I say, just buy one and play that. Not very hard. Xbox is not Playstation nor should it aspire to be.

Either way is it really surprising that people are starting to tire of this shit now? Come on. People like Ryan and Matty whether they realize it or not contribute to gaming discussion become much more toxic. I think they know but don’t really give a shit.

I agree with you in regards to McCaffrey especially with ROTTR/FFXVI and I understand your point in regards to Zelda and ignoring Hi Fi Rush but come on man, im sure you can see the difference between Hi Fi Rush and Zelda. One will be forever remembered while the other has for the most part been forgotten already. I get what you mean but it would be more accurate if it was Starfield instead of Hi Fi Rush which in that case, I would agree with you but an AA title being shadow dropped to yes, critical acclaim but fan fare wise, it had it’s moment in the sun and well, that’s it where as with Zelda (or Starfield) it’s far more hyped, far more mainstream, far more important and critical to it’s respective platform than say Hi Fi Rush. It just is.

I don’t think McCaffrey or others including myself want Xbox to be the green version of PlayStation. It’s that we want Microsoft to truly take Xbox consoles seriously and make them more important than what they seem to be for them as a company. For example, Sony and Nintendo always show off their games running off their respective consoles. Why can’t Microsoft do that? Show me what the games look like and perform like on the Series X and closer to launch, show the PC and Series S versions. Instead, they show the PC version and just like Phil said, that’s misleading because you’re expecting something that you’re not going to ultimately get at launch. It’s stuff like this that irks fans and people the wrong way. This is perfect example of what I have said numerous times - Microsoft shoots themselves in the foot repeatedly. Every time, there’s a lot of positivity and hype surrounding Xbox, it’s almost like they can’t handle it or something and need that negativity.

I’m not tired of any of this shit. Like I said before, sometimes I agree and sometimes I disagree. Regardless of what Matty or McCaffrey or anyone here says, my mind isn’t going to change in regards to this generation. What others say shouldn’t change how someone feels about what they prefer and like. You believe that Matty or McCaffrey are toxic and whatnot and okay but is that going to change how you feel about Microsoft and Xbox? My guess would be no.

I don’t really watch or follow McCaffrey because I don’t care about IGN or any of the gaming sites but I don’t see Matty as toxic at all. He’s praised Microsoft and Xbox a shit ton this generation. When he believes they deserve praise like back in January with Hi Fi and the Direct, he praises them. When he believes they deserve criticism like with Redfall and whatnot, he criticizes them.

I watch Matty and others because I want to hear/know their opinion. Nothing more and nothing less. Agree or disagree, nothing anyone says is going to change Xbox being my primary gaming console this generation and that’s how others here should be as well in my opinion. Prefer what you prefer and just take what others say for what they are - an opinion that you may or may not agree with. Do this and I think many here would be better off. Or just flat out ignore it all. Either way, everyone should always do what’s best for themselves.

I think you are both right. I like that xbox does makes unique games like grounded and pentiment. i hope they doing that. I think people just want xbox to release high quality games consistantly regardless of genre. I think I also am one fo those people that wanted xbox to be a green version of the blue team but then is there really a diffrence? xbox needs to go its own path but no matter what path it goes great high reviewed games are the Key. redfall was such a gif deal not because it was a bad game but it was the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of people.(myself included) from years of just broken promises and failure to delive even the little things. I know people dont like ryan for his hypicrical views but the reallity is thats a lot of xbox fans and ex xbox fans and xbox is letting those people down. Depite how much I want them to do well well everything that is wrong with the xbox brand now is not because of playstation or nintendo, Its because of xbox themselves. I think rand or jez said sony just has a better idea what the gameing industry wants as a whole and they deliver. sometimes i wonder if xbox has a clue. however sometimes you need to have a diffrent mentality to push the industy forward like nintendo has and xbox has with kinect and gamepass.

Perfect dark like mirrors edge??

…*sigh

I agree with you completely. Sony and Nintendo know exactly what their fans want and they deliver. Microsoft I think cares more about everything (console, PC, mobile, cloud) in general as opposed to just concentrating on what their fans want.

Yeah, Microsoft does shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly to almost comical levels because it never ends. I do want Microsoft to give me some visually realistic Sony type games and they are but not all of them. Just like a handful and I’ll be happy. I do like Microsoft’s direction of trying to have more varied games even if im not into them all.

At this point, we just have to wait and see.

You mean like

Flight Sim

Forza Horizon 5

Psychonauts 2

Hi Fi Rush

Gears Hivebusters

Age of Empires 2

Grounded

Gears Tactics

As Dusk Falls

Updates to all the GaaS games as well like SoT

I’ll wait until I’m told why these don’t count, even though you said regardless of genre.

Remember the narrative is that Xbox doesn’t deliver high quality games consistently. So those games can’t be counted. That’s how this works. Also Hi Fi Rush was “forgotten about” despite it constantly trending on Twitter since it’s launch ( not to mention people seemed to remember it when Jeff Grubb said his bs about it underperforming go figure )also it doesn’t count as “high quality” despite its top notch production values because apparently it’s missing an “A”.

Narratives are always what they are, fabricated and useful for some people’s agenda. The fact is that Sony and Nintendo control much more the medias. Nintendo ans Sony have sometimes failures, lack of production and delays, harassement in their studios, closure of original studios, nobody care, it is all good.

In the same time, MS can only do bad.

MS had a bad year 2022 and Redfall is a failure, ok.

MS was publisher of the year in 2021, 4 of its games were in the Top 10 of Resetera, looking at another gamer forum, and 2 for PS. That does not count. MS has a good start in 2023, that does not count anymore. In 2022, they released Grounded (15 million players), Ask Dusk Falls(3 game awards) and Pentinment (etc).

All those do not count, because they are not sad-dad walking simulator.

Xbox is dead because Redfall, a game planned by Bethesda before being bought, against the DNA of the devs has been a failure. Yes, MS should have stopped it, and there are many human reasons they did not (In fact, they would have stopped it, the same wolves that cry now would have cried against the dictatorial gameplay-innovation-killer that is MS).

I pointed out Ask Dusk Falls. This game is a “it does not count” game, whereas people who formed the studio are pure Sony DNA from Sony London. The game would have come under SONY brand, it would be something else.

when people say “high-quality AAA game”, they mean groans "over the shoulder third-person cinematic dramatic action adventure cinema-quality banger’ type of game.

We’re not in an anniversary year. It’s not happening.

And even if we were, Halo 3 Anniversary is not really necessary. It looks and plays great on Series X already.

Reach DEFINITELY doesn’t need a remake.

You could say the same for TLOU, Dead Space, RE4, Modern Warfare 2…

Waiting 2027 for H3A would be another baffling decision from MS when it comes to their handling of Halo. Should already had happened.

None of those are called “Anniversary”. For something called “Anniversary” it will only be out in an anniversary year.

It wouldn’t be baffling at all. Halo CE and 2 needed the anniversary treatment. 3 and onwards don’t. I would rather they invest their resources into the future of Halo rather than worrying about the past.

None of these games are as feature rich and complex as Halo 3 with single player, coop, split screen, multi player, theater and forge. Imagine Halo 3 anniversary releases like TloU remake without multiplayer.

Remake of Halo 3 is a 100+ million project. Better make a new game with that money.

More features but it’s still a 1:1 remake unlike some other games that required expansive changes. 343 wouldn’t develop it anyway. H2A was handled by Saber Interactive and Certain Affinity.

TloU is not a 1:1 remake, its missing half the game.

343 would be involved and they are already stretched very thin. Other devs are not idling anyway. If they are making Halo 3 remake they are tied up for 4 to 5 years and can’t be involved in a new IP, sequel or other support work.

Halo MCC makes Halo 3 remake kind of redundant.

Halo MCC gets played more than Halo Infinite on Steam despite the latter being F2P. I think people are more than content with Halo 3’s state in MCC.

343 is busy trying to do some soul searching as they adjust to the new leadership and Certain Affinity is busy with Tatanka. I could be wrong but it just seems like a remake for the sake of having a remake.

Yeah, I don’t think Halo 3 needs a remaster, and I think with Halo it’s better to go forward and not backwards. I don’t think they need to revisit Bungie’s previous work because they’ve done that with the Halo MCC. I’ve always felt Halo MCC was somewhat a risky thing to do because it kills the idea of repackaging previous Halo games as a remake or remaster.

Anyways, it’s best to move forward and not revisit previous Halo games because I feel the franchise is in more of a dire need of a non-polarizing 343 Halo release than a remake/remaster. They were close with Infinite imo, but the GaaS changed the narrative of the game, which made it another polarizing 343 Halo game.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Talk about being spot on.

Unless you remaster Halo 3, put it into the Master Chief Collection package and give the option to turn on/off the new look. But then that’s a lot of money/time/ressources put into a game that you add into an already released collection and I think it’ll be hard to charge full price by then if you do that which financially doesn’t make sense, and with MCC it wouldn’t make sense either to release a remaster separately. I mean they could try, Halo 3 is indeed beloved by a lot of people so it could sell.

Maybe they should have anniversary events in Infinite with maps and whatnot in the multiplayer, don’t know why they are not capitalizing on that to be honest.
