This game is exactly what Cliffy B was talking about a few weeks back
There are gamers out there that simply aren’t interested in good games, as soon as they are given something negative they will attach to it and try and feed more and more into the narrative, they don’t want to be broken from it and will root for the games downfall
Im convinced many of them don’t actually play games at all, they just spend their time shitting up online discussion to try and make everyone else as miserable as they are
They don’t. I agree. They don’t play games. They can’t. Nobody can be this joyless without trying really hard.
I miss the days when gaming was an adventure through genres and styles and communities formed around games (this still happens btw but is ignored in online discourse). It’s depressing. A game like this so blending a number of genres and it’s great to see a risk take.
The idea it fails unless it’s a perfectly polished cinematic 3rd person game is perpetuated by an online discourse that is as pointless as it is embarrassing.
I find the same about all games though. People too quick to absolutely try and write it off before it’s even come out. The thing is it doesn’t work. Look at sea of thieves, grounded, heck even halo, all have huge communities playing the games. It’s just those that do don’t bother shouting about it online as they just receive abuse.
About Redfall from what i saw last night, the graphics, while bad, are helped by a good art style, gameplay looks just decent and the atmosphere is way better than i expected it’d be.
But the AI? easily the worst i’ve seen in a shooter in a very long time, wouldn’t be surprised if the game goes viral with funny clips about this. I hope their AI department can somehow improve a lot for their future games.
Really hard to know how well this game do on reviews, i always expected 81-85 but right now i’d bet some high 70’s.
Heard optimization on PC is good tho, good job there if that’s really the case
This actually reminds me of a certain very popular forum that (at least sane) Xbox and Nintendo fans have abandoned.
The bit where you say that a lot of people don’t play games it’s more true than it ever was, it’s really easy to “form an opinion” due to the “general consensus” online and how easy it is to watch a gameplay clip or read a quick impression about a game that you haven’t even touched. Certain games that are constantly being shitted on in “enthusiast forums” (see Dark Souls 2, REmake 3, Halo Infinite e.t.c.) are prime examples of this. Everything is so black and white nowadays, a game has to be either the biggest disappointment ever/trash or the best game evar/masterpiece!
I personally think those footage still belongs to early build. It should be noted that the disk of upcoming games may not be able to contain latest, polished game build.
Since Redfall just opened pre-load last week, the disk version wouldn’t be quite up-to-date due to its production period being much earlier.
I speculate the final released build we’ll play could be much better and polished than yesterday’s footage.
Is this for both vampires and cult members? I know from the previews people were mentioning that the cult members AI was bad
It’s strange that the AI seems to have been an issue for the last 2 Arkane games even though they are different teams, granted Deathloop was seemingly a design choice but I’m not sure that’s the case here since this is more of a shooter
I didn’t have much issue with the AI in Prey, haven’t played Dishonored but haven’t heard major issues with it there either but i’ll be playing on the hardest difficulty so hopefully that will balance things out a bit if the AI is a bit lacking
The standard vampires, the ones that are quick look fine, they just chase you trying to hit, they are agressive, all good.
The cult members are simply idiot, even in a funny way. There was also an special vampire with a shield on tonight’s video that was also too easy to exploit since he moved back as soon as you entered a room and he lost sight of you.
And same for Prey on my case, i didn’t like some of the enemies in that game but it was all good, but for Deathloop, the only reason i didn’t like it as much as i hoped was the dumb AI, and Redfall’s one looks scary aswell.
Moving into an action oriented FPS genre when your AI is like that isn’t smart
Great AI can add so much to the experience, but I don’t recall Dishonored having amazing AI, but it wasn’t very bad either, it was doable. Same for Prey. I haven’t watched much of the new Redfall footage myself, I’ll see for myself. Hopefully it isn’t any worse than Dishonored and Prey AI.
I am very curious what the AI for human enemies in Starfield is going to be like. I always had quite a lot of fun during gun fights with baddies in Fallout 3,NV and 4.
Never really been impressed with the AI in BGS’s games, nothing in the Starfield gameplay trailer has shown me to change my opinion on that but we’ll see with the finished product. A year of polishing can do wonders.
Hoping they at least will take cover, aren’t pushovers so that their aim is on point and that they communicate with each other. I adore how the AI communicates in Halo Infinite campaign. In Fallout they do scream at the player with all kinds of foul words, lol, wonder what they do in Starfield.
I found Elder Scrolls’s movement routines from the AI a bit dumb too, instead, i enjoyed combat on Fallout 4 and even on F:NV.
Starfield should be much more like Fallout since it’s a shooter, so not worried at all about that. This said, BGS games are sooo much more than just the combat that i don’t consider the AI on these to be too important, it’s a plus if it’s good of course but yea.
And about Halo Infinite, while imo the campaign was really forgetable compared to older ones, the game itself was so easily enjoyable with that AI and fun combat mechanics.
