I wonder if Grounded 2 is something that’s being talked about at Obsidian. Does it really make sense to put everything in Grounded 1 and continuously update it for free or should they make a sequel aimed at current gen running on Unreal engine 5 exclusive to current gen consoles, with a little bit of a larger team?
They have the tv show currently being worked on and Grounded is currently really polished. Not sure what they could do without ultimately changing the map to be larger and more heavy on last gen systems.
I think the grounded team is made up of a small group at obsidian separate from avowed and outer worlds 2. The new update really shines, they really have a workforce that’s well managed at obsidian.
I think Grounded could build a framework for a sequel that’s more of a western RPG with a building focus too. Imagine if grounded 2 had factions, quests and stuff like a Bethesda game? They could even add mod support. They could honestly make something really cool out of Grounded. A grounded sequel could be similar to Fallout 76 style except polished at the start maybe. I think there’s potential.
Agreed on this part, and it’s what scares me the most from Redfall and i hope it improved a lot, i know it’s not the same studio but i’ve seen some decisions and reactions that did remind me to Deathloop’s AI.
Sometimes it feels like you are against 95 years old enemies or that they are incredibly dumb.
Redfall has difficulty levels tho, so maybe we saw the easiest modes
The problem, for me at least, with Redfall is that it’s a first person game and a shooter. I don’t mind a stable 30 as much in a cinematic third person game.
I’m not turning on arkane, only on this game. Because imo this game represents a holdover when zenimax was struggling and this game was planned to be a live service for them.
Possibly. All the ones I read had it as the main or only real negative.
I think I said this earlier too, GREAT games are less effected critically by performance problems than good games. Like BOTW doesn’t run all that well but its such a great game otherwise people can turn a blind eye to it.
Probably somewhere in the 80s if those many very positive previews are anything to go by. I can see some criticism for AI, unless they have improved it over what the media played.
I’d love if AI actually turns out to be pretty decent, it’s one of those overlooked things in gaming I feel still. So much more can be done with making enemies smarter. Look at Halo Infinite for that, it’s great. I haven’t played TLOU2 but heard pretty crazy stuff about how baddies work together to track you down.
Oh for sure, I like how they hide behind stuff and don’t just rush at you. But also the NPCs and their behaviour, I didn’t realize actually that all of that is part of AI.
Speaking of which, very cool video!
The first example he shows is awesome. Wonder how this could work for TES VI. It makes me wonder about Starfield AI too.
