Johanas went from being an English teacher to directing The Evil Within 2 and Hi-Fi Rush in just some years.

Mikami’s vision for Tango when he founded the studio is definitely materializing.

After The Evil Within, John Johanas was the first new director within Tango to get the chance to lead a project – at least that we’ve heard. How he got it is a bit unorthodox. Johanas joined Tango in August 2010, shortly after the company was founded. Before joining, he was an English teacher for Japan’s JET Program, a government program built to teach foreign languages in Japan (and a common way for people to get working visas to move to the country).

Johanas translated a “huge” Japanese novel into English as part of his application process, gifting it to the studio head. Mikami was surprised, but admits he wasn’t interested in Johanas being an English teacher. Not to mention, he doesn’t read the language. Nevertheless, Johanas got the job. “ saw there was passion in his eyes,” Mikami says.

Johannas spent his first three or four years creating game design documents and then levels for The Evil Within. When Tango had an opportunity to develop DLC, director duty went to Johanas, who led development on “The Consequence” and “The Assignment,” both released in 2015. Then he directed an entire game: The Evil Within 2, which was critically well-received if not successful commercially.

Johanas is already working on his next game as director, marking the first developer at the studio publicly announced as director of more than one project. “He’s entering his prime,” Masato says.

I think Redfall has kinda weird looking running animations and the shadows are weird, but I’m good with it either way.

I’ve never seen an Arkane game and thought it had amazi g graphics though.

I am not saying there are no issues at 343i, rather don’t take info from this person when you can see the agenda they clearly want to push.

Pretty sure that was the same person that caused the whole drama months back when Staten got interviewed and was then misinterpreted, likely deliberately considering her timeline is literally nothing but 343 hate content, got debunked by Staten and then proceeded to double down on

Yeah, that person is weird as hell and was absolutely jubilant when they thought Microsoft was firing everyone at 343. I would take anything they say with a boatload of salt.

Except this won’t be nearly as successful as the FH5 premium pass, it’s a new IP and the value seems rather low compared to what you were getting with the FH5 expansion pass. Unless each hero is a separate campaign…

Despite being exclusive Redfall could end up as Arkane’s biggest game to date when it launches, seems to have that broader appeal and launching on Game Pass is gonna give it a boost in players right away.

Still think Hellblade 2 is this year too, but 2024 is gonna be legendary if we end up with Fable and Avowed in the same year.
