The controls are simpler actually. I played the entire game only using my mouse. Turn Based Strategy games are very easy to port over, they just probably should add an undo feature to compensate for the lack of accuracy in sticks. Rest can be easily mapped to buttons (and the game already works on PC with the controller).
Also, Gears Tactics is a different beast from Halo Wars, as it is turn based with hit percentages and RPG/looter elements instead of real time. I personally preferred it.
It is very XCom like down to Overwatch, just faster. Everytime you execute (not kill) an enemy you get an extra action point and you start with 3 AP instead of 2. Permadeath is in too.
The more you think about it Microsoft isn’t really trying to sell series x. The real console is series S. Let’s say the price is $299 with controller and $250 with out plus they drop gold requirements and include 3 months of game pass which includes 150+ games. In the middle of a pandemic with the economy the way it is.
As a parent I would gladly get this for my kid or if I’m in college with student loans and I just want cod and fifa and dont need to worry about live. I really think Microsoft is onto something here.
They need to make sure they have say 10 games with proper XSX versions available at launch. The XSX versions of older games need to shine. Something like the below.
New Games console exclusive
The Medium
Falconeer
Crossfire X
Tetris Effect: Connected
Scorn
The Ascent (Launch window)
New to Console
Gears Tactics (possibly)
Xbox Series versions of X1 games
Tell Me Why
Wasteland 3
Battletoads
Gears 5
Forza Horizon (new DLC would be great)
Forza Motorsport
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Previews/Beta (Unlikely)
Flight Simulator
Age of Empires
I really hope it’s a game which also can boost the value of xcloud in markets in asia. Xcloud will probably be more successful in those markets and have a game which attract customers in those markets could be a good move.
Yeah it would be extreme. could be used as a test case to see if paying for huge third party releases to be on game pass from day one is worth while in terms of condole sales and maybe bringing potential ps5 customers across
