Xbox Game Studios |OT| Halo...is it me you’re looking for?

Oh, okay. Completely misunderstood. My mistake.

I currently only own PlayStation 4 Pro as PS4/PS4 Pro was my primary for the entire generation. I had Xbox One X from the release of State of Decay 2 to Gears 5. Once I completed Gears 5, I traded in the Xbox One X because at that point, I was just waiting for their next gen console which we know as Xbox Series X and that will be my primary gaming console for next generation. Just so you don’t think I dislike Xbox or anything like that, I also traded in the Switch after Link’s Awakening because im just done with Nintendo. Had my fill and they just aren’t for me anymore.

As for Wasteland 3, I would prefer to “wrap up” this generation once I trade in the PS4 Pro in October. I have the Remnant expansion next week, Desperados 3, season two of The Division 2 and Mafia Remake.

With Wasteland 3, I have read that there may be expansions and other content post launch and since my PS4 Pro would be long gone by then, I have been thinking on holding off from buying it which I have no problem doing since im very interested in the game but due to the potential post launch content, im more leaning towards waiting until I get Xbox Series X.

But at the same time, Wasteland 3 thus far hasn’t been announced to be getting an actual Xbox Series X upgrade patch which if it is, I wish they announce it because I would then wait 100% but with no announcement and me wanting to simply be done with the current generation, im basically torn on what I want to do.

That’s pretty much it.

Ahhh Hahaha this is a odd way to handle consoles :D. Ngl.

At this stage of development the delay is for spit and polish. Cancelling the Xbox One version won’t make the Series X version more next-gen.

Soo honestly from all games across the business I think games with mocap will struggle the most.

Games like Awowed, Everwild, Fable are mostlikely fine and continue on a regular development.

But games like Hellblade 2 or the next game by the coalition and this includes all the games across the globe getting delayed. So probably the entire sony template will struggle with long delays. Games like Ratchet or Horizon (I think this game isn’t using mocap) are mostly fine.

I disagree in regards to cancelling the Xbox One version not having any benefits to the Series X/S versions. I think the benefits would be huge. For starters, they would no longer have to QA and optimize 6 versions of the game. Second, any aspect that is even potentially holding back the Series X/S versions of the game due to the older hardware, HDD instead of a custom NVME SSD, etc. needs to be eliminated because at the end of the day, it’s just more of a workload. Third, Halo Infinite is a live service game which means that eventually they will cutoff Xbox One anyway.

I’m sorry but let’s say an expansion that releases in 2025 would still be limited due to it being required to run on Xbox One? Just no. 12 year old hardware. No thanks. This is the flagship for Xbox and Series X. Halo IS Xbox and Xbox IS Halo. Quite simply, they need to stop fucking around and eliminate some things in order to make other things easier and more streamlined.

Will people be pissed if they drop the Xbox One version? Absolutely but honestly, fuck them because if it’s not this, it would be something else that would piss those people off. It’s Xbox. People are always pissed off with Xbox about this or that all the time so the hell with it. Do what is best for the game itself, the studio and the overall future of the brand of Halo. It’s called Halo “Infinite” for a reason and you can’t keep something tied to an 8 year old console. Sorry. No. Just no.

What does Microsoft’s output look like for 2021 excluding Halo Infinite? Psychonauts 2? Okay, fine that can run on Xbox One. No problem. I don’t see any other first party game releasing until 2022 and to be perfectly honest, releasing Halo Infinite in November 2021 is close enough to 2022.

Halo Infinite SHOULD get a full one year delay to November 2021 because if they just rush it out in 3-6 months, then honestly what the fuck was the point of delaying in the first place? Release as what it is, it’s a live service game and they can fix it as the time goes like all other live service games.

Sorry if im being harsh with the language but having cross-gen is fine for the smaller titles like Tell Me Why, Battletoads, Wasteland 3, Psychonauts 2 and even Gears Tactics maybe but your FRANCHISE, your BRAND needs to be treated with love and care. Eliminate the old hardware, make everything easier and more streamlined which in turn will lead to a far better overall game and product. Besides, they’ll be cutting off games and content by 2022 if not sooner so like a band-aid, just rip it off. Do it now and you move forward.

The game is content complete, they’re finishing the graphics. That doesn’t take a year.

Sometimes it’s probably better to tune out. Now that Halo is gone, I don’t know when it is coming, and if it is Holiday of next year, then I will probably save over $100 by waiting on Series X. I know the platform sales out of the gate aren’t as necessary for MS this time around, but I’m also scared if I don’t get a Series X, then Sony will be able to get more moneyhats for cheaper.

I just wanted to look forward to next gen, but admittedly my hype is dying by the day. I have the utmost faith in MS’s slate from 2022 onwards, but I’m genuinely “concerned” (I hate that word) about what the lack of Halo at launch and IOS for Xcloud is going to do in the short term. Betting the farm on Halo was a mistake, as even Pre-Covid there were warning signs (creative directors leaving, new engine completed in 2018, massive scope) and I am just struggling to come to terms with the fact that they may not have a backup plan.

Idk, this all may be moot. I may be blown away by The Medium (definitely playing on PC at a minimum) or maybe Outriders’ patch is jawdropping stuff. Maybe Cyberpunk is noticeably great out of the gate and just gets better. But with how the start of this gen is shaping up, maybe Sony and MS should have waited a year.

Idk, I don’t want to be too negative here (lord alone knows the concern trolls and platform warriors rubbing in Halo’s delay are bad enough) and I know for the game, they made the right call, but I’m just nervous what this means for the ecosystem going forward, especially given how aggressive Sony is looking.

Is it content complete? They said they need time for critical aspects. The WindowsCentral rumours said MP might not be ready.

Everything will be fine.

True. It’s simple though. Since I stopped collecting consoles and games with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, I simply go with the console that I know will be the best for it’s generation in regards to overall power, performance, capabilities, etc. as well as which console is going to make the multi-platform games look, run and perform better. This decides which console brand will be my primary gaming console because the vast majority of games I play will be multi-platform. PS4/Xbox One had 20/5 exclusives respectively with 75 games being multi-platform. For PS3, I had only 5 exclusives, 4 from Naughty Dog and Dead Nation from Housemarque. So I went with Xbox 360 but then went with PS4 for this current gen that is about to finally end.

For the next generation, it’s all about Xbox Series X. I literally have a 40 game “futurelog” game list. Around 10 exclusives for Series X, at 4 exclusives for PS5 and 26 multi-platform games. So basically, Xbox Series X will be for multi-platform games, exclusives, digital purchases (like Cyberpunk, Valhalla, etc.) game pass, the controller, digital only games that I buy like The Ascent as well as expansions and DLC.

PlayStation 5 will be my secondary exclusives only gaming console. If im not playing an exclusive that I obviously want to play, it will sit there with it’s plastic covering until my next exclusive arrives. All PS5 games will be purchased on disc, played, completed and traded in with no digital purchases of any kind. The only exception to this rule would be if they have an exclusive that’s digital only.

That pretty much sums it up.

Even if the game is content complete which I doubt, they still have a lot of work to do in regards to visuals, animations, textures, draw distance, pop-in, etc. The list can go on and on. Plus they need to have Ray Tracing in the game AT LAUNCH and it needs to be correctly implemented. They don’t need to rush it as that would make no sense. I want the game to be amazing especially since it will be the first Halo game that I have ever played. I don’t want it being shitty or rushed because again, no point in delaying it to begin with.

It makes perfect logical sense, unless you expect 343 to support the Xbox one version of the game ten years from now.

If it were releasing early 2021 they would tell us.

You’re not the only one, it just that the people who are still excited don’t post as much or in as demonstrative as fashion as those who are disappointed.

That’s true. Can’t argue with that.

You guys really think any of the Series X launch games are as good Sunset Overdrive? Games that aren’t out yet and that we haven’t even seen running on a Series X? Not to mention the sparse gameplay.

And the yearly releases like Watch Dogs and Valhalla have looked extremely rough.

I feel like I’m living on a different planet.

To be perfectly honest, I didn’t like Sunset Overdrive. Played it for maybe 30 minutes and it was gone. In terms of quality and visuals, I easily believe that Valhalla, Cyberpunk, WD Legion, Outriders, The Ascent, Crossfire X campaign, Gears Tactics, Avengers and The Medium all look better than Sunset Overdrive and I do believe they will be better games as long as you actually like the genre of those respective games.

This worries me too… I think if the XSX can hold up the first year in a good shape we can spect great things for xbox in general, but if not I’m kinda worry

Well, I can’t change your opinion on the game but Sunset Overdrive had extremely polished platforming and traversal and graphical style really fit the tone of the game. I can it definitely was more polished than the yearly releases from Ubisoft.
