Xbox Game Studios |OT| Halo...is it me you’re looking for?

Yeah it won’t solve anything but it would at least be something… Now that should have been decided before they gave them release dates, too late now. Delaying more games, even if artificial, looks bad.

Tell Me Why and Battletoads are not going to do anything for Series X. Flight Simulator 2020 could be a launch title but im thinking early 2021. Gears Tactics is Series X and Xbox One but yeah, it should be held until Series X launches.

The game that Microsoft should have paid for to be a Series X/Xbox One exclusive was Wasteland 3. Even with The Outer Worlds. It baffles me that Microsoft would acquire the development studio and not pay for the marketing/publishing rights in order to have full control of the game.

I’m waiting for play Wasteland 3 on Series X via BC because it seems like their might be expansions or DLC of some kind for it and I figured that im better off waiting instead of buying in on PS4 at launch.

I have a feeling Playground may have more for us in November than a Series X patch. They tend to announce DLC very close to launch and with Horizon 5 seemingly years away, why not launch with a new DLC?

Now that would be a great idea. A new expansion to FH4 would be awesome.

Even better would be to not call it an expansion though. Let it be a stand alone SKU like Sony is doing while also letting it just be another island you can hop to. With Game Pass it allows anyone to hop in and play. Maybe progress carries over. Each Horizon expansion has basically been separated from the main games so if they could market it right it would present it self as a launch AAA exclusive.

Eh. It would be kinda messed up to pull it off PS4 after it was crowdfunded. People would have a good reason to be angry

Really? I didn’t know that. In that case, I agree but I simply would have refunded everybody who picked the PS4 version as their platform of choice.

Oh, that would be even better yeah. Spidermanify it.

Wonder if Halo will launch in March, if the game recovers the positive PR it had before the campaign reveal i could see it being the biggest spring launch ever.

Very good point, I imagine they thought Halo would be? Certainly they had to know about some of the visual issues beforehand? I am assuming that none of the other 1st party titles were ready?

I think there’s a very real chance of this happening.

Folks, I know it’s bad for the launch that Halo got delayed. But we need to remember this is not the world of seeing 6 launch games on a shelf and picking which ones to bring home. People buying a Series X at launch will mainly be people who have already owned an Xbox before. They will open the box, start up the system, and ready to install will be:

  • All digital purchases they made on XB1 and many from 360.
  • All their Games with Gold
  • All of Game Pass, either their existing sub or the trial that will come in the box.
  • Every XB1 disc, plus many 360/OG discs will work.

And then on top of that every big fall launch plays on Series X, including many that do have enhancements. Assassin’s Creed, Dirt 5, The Ascent, The Medium, presumably COD, etc. Cyberpunk will be smoothest framerate and highest res and fastest loading on Series X even before a patch. All of that.

So there’s no lack of content. Now, will there be a huge “wow such graphics much ray tracing” title to make people excited? Looks like maybe not, but then Halo didn’t look like that anyway as it was shown. On the other hand, I think load times and quick resume alone will make it pretty obvious how much better the experience is on Series X from day 1. And there’s a chance that Halo lands as something really special in 2021.

I do agree with this, super weird. They had to be planning for this to be Halo, right? But Halo didn’t come close in the demo.

All very good points! I’m not worried for the console or anything like that. For me personally though, Halo launching with the console was that thing which made it special you know? Without that it is basically like upgrading a PC now, not very exciting and something I can do whenever. I wanted to experience that massive Halo-launch feeling.

digital foundry thinks the xbox on version of the game should be cancelled. honestly, the best solution is to to release the multiplayer crossgen and to have the campaign be xbox series x only. should have been the plan from the start.

I don’t the delay of Halo much, I really wasn’t ecstatic about the gameplay and I’m still very much on the fence about the game. My excitement has been gone ever since that reveal. But that’s ok. It would be great if the game in the end surprises me next year.

That being said, yeah, the launch isn’t looking too hot. Sure it’s gonna be great to play the new AC with the shorter loading times, quick resume of multiple games and things like that…but a real showcase game for the new system just isn’t there. I find that unfortunate, a third party deal really could have changed that.

Someone here earlier said first party launch games are overrated or something like that. I can see where they are coming from because I personally play MUCH more multiplatform games on my Xbox than exclusives. Even with upcoming very promising XGS games, i will always be playing many multiplatform games. That’s why Sony’s allegedly aggressive “new” strategy is not a good thing at all. How bad it truly will be nobody can know yet.

Oh, yeah totally fair and agreed. I’m bummed we don’t get to experience them dropping an incredible, mind blowing next gen Halo at launch. I’m sure that was the plan in 2018 and it would have been incredible if they had pulled it off :frowning:

Gamepass? :o

It would be insane if we could get previous Forza Horizon maps with all of Horizon 4’s modern cars. FH1’s map size and age make it seem doable, imagine a ‘Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition’ that includes all of FH4 but it also lets you rediscover Colorado in 4K60.

Game Pass is amazing and one of the reasons why Xbox Series X will be my primary gaming console for next generation but no one would buy a Series X for Tell Me Why and Battletoads regardless of them being on Game Pass or not.

Even after the Halo Infinite, im good with Gears Tactics, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Wasteland 3 on Game Pass but that’s not everyone’s perspective or outlook.

There is zero logical sense to this. The game is pretty much done, the delay is for graphical upgrades and making sure mp game modes are in/ready. Cancelling the Xbox One version gives zero tangible benefits to the Series X/S version. The only way it would is if you’re delaying the game for 2-3 years and rebuilding it from scratch.

I also don’t think the game is delayed anything more than 6 months. It was too close to done to need a full year.

Nonono I’m curious why even think about the ps4 version? Do you not own a xbox?
