I also think the gamepass deal is good enough. Mid tier and small tier studios are more valuable for the Xbox ecosystem, if there is an aquisition at all in the near future.

I really hope it doesn’t happen and that they use the money for other studios or games to land on Game Pass. Besides, doesn’t Bungie at the moment have a game called Matter with another big company? They’d yet again acquire a studio that has multiplatform games in the works and even with another company too. I don’t think that would be good.

A Bungie acquisition probably wouldn’t affect the budget for other companies. Would be more like a strategic move like Minecraft.

Mojang didn’t do anything for Xbox, I hope they don’t waste their money on a multiplatform studio like Mojang. Xbox should focus on studios like Insomniac, Respawn, Fromsofware ect, these kind of studios will bring millions of people to brand, look at Insomniac they are saving the PS5 launch.
for the kind of money Bungie would cost, they could get Asobo and like three other studios lmao and I’d consider those better deals

man, I really do hope Halo Infinite gets out and does well, but more importantly, 343i needs to catch a fucking break from Halo, they’re serving the most divided fandom in the entire gaming industry, thankfully it shall be a platform for a good while, so it’ll largely be updates and expansions. Hopefully that means they could get freed enough to work on something else. I’d love for them to tackle a Mass Effect like game so they still have some familiarity in themes and setting but still get to experiment with everything else without being burdened by this goddamn IP

I think the opposite, Mojang acquisition hurt the Xbox One, 2.5 billion is a lot of money, they could have made 25-30 AAA games or buying 15-20 studio with that money.
They are extremely profitable for Microsoft but they didn’t much for Xbox division.
Bruh without the mojang acquisition showing microsoft that staying in games was worth it xbox would have likely been shut down/sold off. The writing was on the wall and they managed to save it

Satya Nadella was the new CEO and wanted change in Microsoft. One of those changes is to cut not profitable business. Xbox makes little to no money for Microsoft. He also didn’t know anything about the gaming business.
Phil Spencer pressured him for to buy Mojang. Be serious or leave the business.
Turns out it was so successful Xbox division left the windows umbrella under best man Terry Myerson, Phil got a promotion and directly reports to Nadella.
