The new leadership has no idea about gaming. Why should they buy it randomly without any knowledge. If you want information about gaming you going to your gaming division and ask for information. Also I read somewhere that Phil Spencer or the Xbox team wanted to acquired Minecraft much earlier.

Listening to 56:59 again, he does claim it was beyond his budget. He says Microsoft was responsible for it but he did go and say “We should buy this”. I hope atleast the Ray Tracing patch is exclusive to Xbox.

Which correlate with my statement. Xbox division was under the windows umbrella. Terry Myerson didn’t care about Xbox at all and cut the budget.
So Phil or whoever from the Xbox division went to the new CEO Satya Nadella for the Minecraft acquisition.
And I don’t believe Ray Tracing will be an exclusive feature.

I disagree. Minecraft making too much money and getting an exclusive feature to make your own Plattform more attractive would anger a lot of people. Minecraft is not the game to let the Xbox or Gamepass shine. It collecting money for you so can buy new studios or Gamepass games.
Probably because its harder to get the cool looking movements on a controller compared to kb+m haha

That would be awesome, but where did this Hivebusters thing even come from to begin with? Having a new standalone Gears title would be crazy and such a surprise too. Personally I don’t think so though. Not for launch, surely they would have announced that by now.
yeah its not clear if he means the recording is specifically bad on XSX or just consoles in general and PC is more preferable. But now I do expect this to be further concern troll fodder for the next few days lolol

You don’t need Bungie to fuel the hype, you need to make your game look good which Halo Infinite did not. However since we have another year, 343i will have another chance to show Halo off at E3 or whatever MS does next year for a digital event to actually give the game a positive impression before it launches.
I have a lot more confidence in 343i handling Halo then Bungie now. Bungie would probably end up putting in a loot system or basically making it Destiny with a Halo skin.
This the kind of dumb shit Xbox is dealing with and will continue to. Researches video game industry and doesn’t know the flagship console of current gen, I really don’t know what to say.
PS IGN could have made the headline far far easier to grasp, they make the most useless shit have amazingly concise headlines but somehow get obfuscated when it comes to these things. I saw so many game industry people just retweeting that and reacting to the headline as if that represented it charitably and wasn’t ridden with obfuscation (not to say the consoles themselves couldn’t have better names)

Awesome! So happy for them. MS really gave them a nice new home in terms of security for the future for their livelihoods , but also for their other home where they will spend a lot of time making great games.
I can’t wait for their new AAA RPG. As of yet it’s officially not announced yet, but let’s say that what Sponger said is legit…that’s incredibly promising. A very ambitious developer shooting for the stars .

Before the acquisition Brian Fargo was thinking about retirement. With the fresh Microsoft money he doesn’t need to focus to pitch to publisher anymore and can put all his energy in making games. Happy for him and team inXile.

That’s an incorrect assessment. Im convinced Mojang has bascially bankrolled xbox. Now if you are talking console sales that’s another point. Still that money generated from minecraft helps, bungie could work the same way even though I would prefer they be exclusive.
