Nice to see some Xboxes in the wild
MS has the most powerful hardware in the XSX, but it hasn’t made the case yet for why you’d want it. If the only games taking full advantage of it come out in '22 to '23, then what is its purpose right now?
What are the new gameplay advantages of the SSD? What new gameplay mechanics will all that power allow for? Shiny graphics are great but if gameplay loops don’t make the leap into the “next-gen” then all we have is playing the same games as before but with better graphics.
Speaking of Gears 5, I specifically didn’t play the campaign so I could see it in all its glory on the Series X.
The art of Martin Deschambault associate art director 343i, this is his personal project. I really want to see 343 try something new.
I was hoping for new methods of haptic feedback that MS could take advantage of for their 1st party games, even if it isn’t used by 3rd parties.
One thing i hope we see in future showcases are some first party titles from XGS aimed at all ages. At least in terms of stuff set for the next year or so. Sea of Thieves, Minecraft, and Grounded are great but I would love to see a new Banjo game or more traditional game aimed at younger or all ages audiences .
On a unrelated note is kinda dawned on me that we should be getting at least one big RPG from XGS in the next 2-3 starting with the recently released Wasteland 3.
Viva Piñata 3!
I’d be down for that. I honestly think the Rare IP Vault is a treasure trove ready to be unleashed. It’s hard not look at XGS without taking into account Gamepass, and one thing that i think Gamepass is a variety of games even aimed at younger audiences. Phil has talked about having nintendo being the goal for what XGS could achieve.
If i’m in charge I’d be looking at potentially rebooting something like Jet Force Gemani as a kid friendly shooter a la Splatoon but giving it a vibe close to the Battletoads Saturday morning cartoon vibe. The other three XGS owned series i’d be looking into bringing back are Costume Quest, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyessy.
Games will play best on Xbox is the best possible sales pitch.
Here is how I see things playing out.
November both systems launch. -Dozens of major AAA games look / play 15-25% better on Xbox over PS5
- Both consoles launch at the same price.
- The size of the PS5 becomes a widespread meme
- Both systems sell out and are virtually impossible to find until mid January.I
- The lack of hard drive space on PS5 becomes a meme.
- (Wild card… Ps5 fan noise becomes a meme)
January Hitman releases (plays best on Xbox)
February -First look at Cyberpunk on Xbox Series X -Microsoft announces a Cyberpunk / series X bundle
March Cyberpunk bundle releases
April Halo is shown Halo bundle is announced
May Halo Series X bundle releases
June E3 - Microsoft gives updates on Forza, Hellblade, initiative, etcetera
I would love to see a new Fusion Frenzy with some Powestone elements thrown in that features all of XGS’s characters. Same thing with a Kart Racer.
You said “Gears 5 was rushed from story to MP”.
What about Gears 5’s story was rushed? - I say the opposite is the case because they carefully picked up hints already given 12 years ago in Gears 2 and provided answers to questions that anyone who is even remotely interested in the Gears lore must have had all this time.
Do I have to ask you questions about Gears 5’s story to check if you have really played it or just rushed through it on easy mode while watching a Twitch stream on another screen?
I mean, I guess that really is the only marketable approach to show the improvements that the Series X allows for in 3rd party games coming up.
It will be interesting to see the breakdown between Series X and Series S sales. 30% Series X, 70% Series S?
Because maybe the marketing should heavily play into the affordability of the Series S versus the power of the Series X for now. Market the value of the S mixed with Game Pass.
They’re not behind because of manufacturing line issues, but because of smart shift/heat issues. Still trying to keep their machine from melting.
Whats the possibility of Xbox Games Showcase 2 in September? We know for a fact that they were working like 3 months into preparing the Xbox Games Showcase 1.
Man InXile is starting to become my favorite XGS. I started playing Bards Tale and aside some noticable jank the game is absolutely brilliant and really takes me back to when I was playing old school computer RPG’s like Might and Magic
A completely AAA polished Bards Tale would be amazing.
Is there an exclusivity window for Fall Guys? Or is it just a matter of they put it out on PC and the PS4 first?
I encountered bugs and had to circumvent some to pick the objects for missions completion.
The game was rushed I agree. Nonetheless it was a great transitional Gears game. Just lacking a bit more polish. Hope they fully expand on their ideas in the sequel.
We also didn’t see yet the back of the PS5…
lol did anyone actually doubt that Fall Guys would come to Switch/PC? Game is waaaay too popular
