Xbox Game Studios |OT| Halo...is it me you’re looking for?

I’d say Sony is on schedule but they don’t want to show yet. I think something a lot of people miss is that the hardware is on schedule as South East Asia has handled the pandemic fairly well and manufacturing has been mostly re-open because they were on top of preventing transmission and there is a general mask wearing culture out of societal politeness when it comes to colds and flu. So manufacturing lines opened back on time to get the consoles done and get production back on schedule way back by the end of April/Start of May. In the west where most of the software is made, it hasn’t been handled as well. MS and Sony would delay if they could. But sitting on sellable stock would be a stupid money sink when there is demand for the consoles so they have to plow ahead with launch. Eventually both will have to show but the expectations for “We need news and gameplay demos now” is starting to grate a bit when people aren’t understanding we’re in a historical pandemic situation.

Wasn’t the Xbox news pushed to September though? Then again, that news was probably price and Lockhart, so it can be something else. The GP thing Shinobi talked about perhaps?

I think next month we will see Series S, GP news, price and maybe acquisitions.

XSX needed some demos like this.

I have never encountered a single bug during my Gears 5 playthrough.

Also, Gears 5 is the best game of the series and a wet dream for those interested in the Gears lore.

“Gears 5 lacked quality” - I can’t help but wonder what alternate reality you are from.

Yup and at least one game to show of XSX power. Just saw a comment on Facebook by a friend of mine, he said right now he doesn’t really see a reason to get a new console yet and that so far only Sony has shown off power in terms of showing a game, how it looks, what the SSD means for it. He of course meant Ratchet. He doesn’t get that Xbox is slacking with the marketing.

I see where he’s coming from but I think it’s all because of several reasons. Phil/MS likely found out too late about the state of Halo, they were counting fully on that one, of their long time studios no game is far along enough in development to be shown off and the new studios were acquired at a unfortunate time when they still had multiple projects in the works for the other systems too.

And I definitely believe the need to market it like they did in 2013 isn’t there for them or at least MS thinks that. They want people to use GP, and Phil already said if people don’t want or can’t buy XSX this year yet, that’s OK. It’s just a very different picture than in 2013. Covid undoubtedly is a big reason too I’m sure.

The Medium and Exo One can be considered as launch titles to show off the power of Xbox Series X. They are both not coming to Xbox One.

Love the new look and also how it reiterates the console design language. Same with the playstation OT. Must have been a lot of work, so know it’s appreciated! Really cool stuff. Also I love that you are listing notable releases. Nice overview.

Ok another update.

Added website links, Founded year and a “quote” about the studio.

Just cleaned and tightened up a bit more as well as removing some outdated info.

Hopefully done now

The Medium could be a great game, but visually it’s not exactly a showcase for the new hardware. Agreed on that the SSD advantage is being shown though, with the two worlds at the same time. I am gonna have to look up what Exo One is.

There’s a typo in “Costume Quest”, but great job!

Looking through the renovation, do we know anything else about this “Decisive Games”? I’d never heard of that happening.

Hope everyone starts good into the new week. And i hope the panic from last week will not carry over into september. I’am pretty sure good things are ahead of us!

What i wonder… with the remaster of Crysis is offical can we expect the “unannounced AAA title” from crytek’s job listings is a new game? crysis 4 or ryse 2? :innocent:

Great work!

You do realize that the only photo of a real (not rendered) PS5 that I can find is this one (Only photo of real PS5). They are two months out form launch and they haven’t showed the public the real console. They’ve showed, the controller, because they have the controller. One could even call the PS5 vapor ware if they were looking for a rise from certain people.

Secondly, the announcement earlier this quarter stating that Sony had doubled production can be interpreted in two ways. One, they are expecting to sell more consoles then expected in the first year. Two, they need to double their production rate of consoles to meet the original launch stock allocation in a shorter period of time. You can also publicly announce option one to cover for needing to do option two, without difficult questions from investors if you expect strong multi-year sales anyway.

My take on it is that these two factors, along with their radio silence for half the year in general indicate Sony is in fact late with hardware.

This has been a blessing for them in many ways, frustrating the Xbox reveal somewhat. MS was ready to launch but their strategy of waiting for Sony to go first never anticipated Sony not being able to reveal on time!

Yes! Same experience here, apart from the very first night of MP when servers crashed due to the large amount of players I didn’t have any problems at all.

Alternate reality ? Nah i guess you are living in a bubble

Gears 5 was very polished for me. I didn’t have many issues when I played the campaign. Same for when I tried some Arcade matches.

There were a lot of problems with the online aspect of the game, as I recall. What did you encounter in Gears?
