Yeah they are just adding random shit and upping the price. Like wtf.
I guess it comes down to growth way back when GP started as a big value boost to Xbox consoles, so much did during that mid Xbox One era, but it (none of it) ever really worked to draw in new customers and increase overall console sales. And now we know the entire market has mostly stayed the same and struggled to grow with new customers. So if GP on console is adding value to consoles, but more consumers arenât buying consoles⌠then Microsoft is incentivized to lessen its value. Meanwhile they repeatedly report more growth on PC and now theyâll be pushing into PC even more with Xbox Full screen and probably more OEMs. In the same way elsewhere console prices are increasing or the storage decreasing for the same price, game pass on console is offering less value than on PC (well not exactly, more Like just console GP doesnât exist).
It sucks. But I think this will continue to happen (stuff like this) because the console market itself has finite consumers whom can use to occupy. As in the increasing costs will have to continue to be spent by an a population of customers that are not growing.
Seriously thinking about investing back into pc at some point.
PC GP always paid way less to get the GPU experience, minus streaming, it sucks but itâs nothing new.
I mean those are absolutely tacked on and this price increase is most likely, given timing and industry rumblings, due to the impending drop of CoD into the service. They could have and probably would have increased the cost of GPU without any benefit, but have thrown a bone in Fortnite perks and a nebulous promise of 75 day one releases per year
I should be able to buy some Game Pass Ultimate cards at the current price and stack it, right?
I donât even know if I will because I donât have that much expendable money right now. Itâs at the end of the month. Bills are coming up. If this starts in October then I have no chance of doing it really.
But yeah itâs priced me out. This would be $40 Canadian dollars a month.
It was good while it lasted!
Weâre at a stage of capitalism where there is no longer competition, something that drives prices down, and now corporations are trying to milk as much as they can from their existing customers. So this was, unfortunately, predictable.
Yeah, thatâs pretty ass. It doesnât really change the way I engage with game pass (I rarely subscribe for more than a month or two anyway), but the new features donât really justify the asking price.
It seems Microsoft is fully giving up on growing the service to maximise their profit margins.
The Ultimate increase seems very heavy. Iâm curious what comes out of this.
I can afford it, but Iâd rather not. PC-only is increasingly tempting. Glad I got a new machine recently.
Ubisoft games, Vbucks and Battlepass forFortnite is killer! Wow!
Remember folks, even if YOU arenât interested, these things will pull some people in.
I talked with a coworker who plays Valorant and who suscribed to GP only for the free characters, because it would be too expensive or time consuming to get them all any other way.
Cdkeys / Loaded price fluctuating a lot today Iâm guessing in relation to the news - at one point just after the announcement it was ÂŁ35 for 3 months of Ultimate (stackable up to 3 years) now itâs back down to just over ÂŁ31
Ultimately, using 30 months of prepaid Core (activated 1st code about 2 weeks ago) and 1 month ultimate card (that says to redeem by end of 2023?), I got a bit less than 13 months of GPU, at a total price that is still cheaper than 12 months of PS+ Premium.
Yeah, thatâs fair. There will definitely be people who see this as a win, and will make use of the new features. Still I think the pricing is probably too steep on a monthly basis even, if you like all the new stuff.
Still think the price is heck of steep.
Heck a family member of mine told me this? Prices throughout the years âalwaysâ increase in the economy and its rarer to see any price decrease over time. Nintendo was the point he used in this and i hate that he has a good point in this.
Itâs the unavoidable consequence of using so called âfiatâ currency. Prices go up because unit value of currency goes down.
I hope thereâs outrage because it doesnât feel right to add on cost for added service most wonât use . I play overwatch and I would also be upset if the value added was a battle pass .
Theres better ways to price service . It also makes me wonder what the heck is happening for next gen if the pc hybrid run or is true. Like do gamers pay pc gamepass pricing or will it be console pricing for gamepass ?
Tis a bit more a month than iâd like, ÂŁ20 would be the sweet spot as I donât give a rats arse over v bucks or fortnight. I still thinks itâs value for people who play more than 4 games a year tho.
Did a little research and counted the value of stuff I played this year from Jan to date (not exact as prices have fluctuated) ÂŁ700+, crazy, n before this month releasese n COD as well.
price might have have to go up to ÂŁ35 to ÂŁ40 a month before it actually affects me if Iâm being honest (although with the way prices keep going up it might get there by the time my sub lapses in Nov 2027 lol).
It was fun while it lasted. $30/month for Ultimate is too rich for my blood.
I chose an even easier path: I gave up on new releases and became a âpatient gamerâ. It makes too much sense. I picked up Control Ultimate Edition for 5.99 euros a few weeks ago, ditto Mortal Shell for 3.99.
I always used to gravitate towards legacy titles anyway whenever I subbed to Gamepass (usually because latest releases all need fixing with patches) so why rush? Despite the furore about increased prices in gaming (which is valid) thereâs still a cheap hobby to be enjoyed here.
every month there seems to be another price increase at Xbox either on the hardware, software or services side
This would be more palatable if Ubisoft hadnât been practically giving those games away for years already.
Well it wasnât as terrible as the rumors for the PC side, itâs still bad tho, itâs reaching a point where after my actual sub ends, unless i find some great offers, i might just end up subbing a few specific months per year instead, but yea, i can see myself subbing in the future in a good month for 16,5 dollars.
Now, 30 dollars on the console part is absolutely crazy, kinda feel sorry for these players, i guess itâs still worth for some enthusiast player with enough free time, but for the majority it really feels like itâs too muchâŚ
At this point, the best deal in gaming is becoming gg.deals or allkeyshop for me
