Xbox Game Pass is undergoing a big revamp

I’m lucky enough that my ultimate doesn’t expire until December of next year, but if I was paying month by month I just couldn’t afford this. Like at all. Gaming is getting way too expensive. And yeah there’s the lower tiers, but those have also gotten pretty expensive for what they offer.

For now at least, at least there are some major additional benefits and new game drops.

I wonder what Ubi games are part of it.

Thank god this stuff can be shared because I wouldn’t pay 30 bucks a month. By sharing and paying 50/50 it’s perfectly doable.

To repeat my thoughts from another thread - In the past I always just defaulted to the highest tier of Game Pass, I didn’t really even think about it. If anyone was ā€œall inā€ for Game Pass and what it offered, it was me. But this price hike has me looking carefully at the benefits and considering going down to the $15 tier.

Ubisoft+ classics are a good benefit in general but not for me because I already own and have played most or all of those games already.

I think it’s going to come down to what day 1 Microsoft games are on the immediate horizon. If there was nothing coming up for the next couple of months that I really want to play, I’ll give serious though to going down a tier.

I am excited about better xCloud quality, I’ve been playing a lot of FF14 on my Xbox One X lately by streaming it.

This will be really expensive in AUD. I am out and will subscribe for a month or two in a year when i need to play first party games

I can see it might be $500 aud a year.

Xbox is making it harder to stay. Game pass was great but looks like it’s not as valuable anymore

i will let my subscription (paid by rewards) run out. Maybe resubscribe for a month if i have enough rewards points accumulated :woman_shrugging:

Ultimate will be 27€ per month

Feels like cloud game/stream your own games being available on Core and Premium is a bigger deal than is being recognised. I know more than a few people who were subbed to Ultimate just for that who can drop down

WFT!!! 150 reais(Brazilian currency a month?!

Its too much.

The subscription page on microsofts website is currently having issues, so it’s likely busy at the moment.

Yeah, i just saw that in my coutry its over 100 reais for ultimate. WFT, that bigger than any subscription service i had spent prior. I am defiently gonna see what i can do right now.

So yeah, same as what I said in the other thread: the prime jump from premium to Ultimate is insane. There’s not a lot to love here. They are piling on more benefits, but it feels more superficial and not like anything most people would take advantage of. I think $25 for GPU would be reasonable. The graphic is nice and they sure do hype it up well in the Xbox Wire post, but it’s still a crazy asking price for a subscription service.

The other big problem I have is that paid online is still here at all for consoles. They insist on merging PC and Console subs, but still hold onto paid online multiplayer. That’s terrible. And I’ll say that I liked the previous names better. They shouldn’t be chasing Playstation’s naming convention here. Core was great and to the point, and so was standard. Essential is just a longer way to say Core and Premium sounds misleading.

My GPU subscription expires December 2026,I’ll see if I can’t buy some codes now to extend it but otherwise I’ll probably just let it run out. I mean that’s a fantastic amount of time and I got it for cheap using conversions anyway, so I’m probably too priveleged here to complain much. I’m technically just getting more benefits for actually free. Still, I can express that I don’t like the change here. I’m still against Microsoft getting rid of a console only tier and a PC only tier for gamers that aren’t on both platforms.

Relp, I’m not feeling this . I mainly sub to gamepass for day one games and this cost is too much. I’m unsure what they’re thinking because I don’t care about Fortnite pass or Ubisoft classics. I have gamepass ultimate until 2027. I will have to decide from there how I want to approach this.

Insanity. Xbox has lost its way.

I don’t want to get in trouble but with games going elsewhere . It’s making me hard to justify the current value proposition at this cost. I think I might be better off buying games individually rather than paying $30usd/month . I wish they could remove the online paywall because I wouldn’t mind paying for games separately

The online pay wall really, REALLY needs to go. Especially on Xbox where they’re insisting on treating every customer like they’re on all three (console, PC, and cloud) platforms at once with these GP subs.

I think secretly that’s what Microsoft wants Xbox gamers to do. Downgrade your subscription and buy the 1st party games you want to play

Bingo.

It’s not even ā€˜secretly’. It’s overt.

They’re gatekeeping day one releases behind an expensive paywall that’ll dissuade most players from subscribing. Game Pass Premium is ironically the new mainstream option and it’s just like PlayStation’s PS Plus Extra.

Just stacked for 15 months for about £11/12 a month, may stack for longer but initially wanted to push the increase out a way.

A number of publishers have Day One subs that are a significant price for a much smaller library, so I’m used to a steep bump from the basic so while this isn’t great news I’ll likely stick with it when it goes up too.

Plus Cdkeys / Loaded will no doubt still have a discounted price available…
