Xbox confirms AMD will power the next generation of Xbox consoles

I feel like this one was made for @Mort

Microsoft basically knew that things would be leaking and prepaired a response before it did.

grounded in a platform designed for players, not tied to a single store or device, and fully compatible with your existing Xbox game library

They want any future Xbox hardware and PC’s to play it all, hope they can make it happen.

It would be a massive shift, and literally make the console war that people are still fighting, more irrevalent than it already is.

Especially if every Windows PC out there can get the new update.

Please have it in a CPU I can buy off the shelf so I can build my own ultra powerful PC that is backwards compatible with Xbox!

Look at that… right again. Just made far too much sense, given everything that Xbox has been building.

Maybe now the ignorant bandwagon about ARM will finally be put to bed. Clearly, MS saw the same exact data…

GPU was a given, not so sure about CPU

Anyway, who cares so nice to hear good news about Xbox and how they’re not leaving the Hardware game

I wouldn’t be shocked if the Xbox PC app gets regular Xbox games via emulation at some point, based on this announcement.

I feel like this is MS reacting to current rumors. About time they learned!

Great point, well made

Knowing the power to make backward games better, I can’t imagine what they can do with next-gen.

Call me crazy but what IF(This is a massive if like tin foil hat theory IF) this is a sign that xbox might just bring back the backwards compatibility program once more and this time bring in more and more games that could only be played on og xbox and xbox 360?

I think this could help a lot in this regard, no? If so i think this has a lot more bigger implications that i truly don’t think either playstation nor nintendo is gonna be hope to match against.

It was! (I’m convinced they listen to my complaints somehow, haha)

Excellent! This is what I like to hear. Bring on the next-gen consoles!

As someone who has been losing a bit of interest in Xbox with the way things are going, I would genuinely pick up an Xbox that can play my xbox library and my steam library too on tv. I do hope they at least have a disc drive add on so i can still play my disc based games though

AMD has the best CPU’s in the market right now, it’s the GPU side that they can’t compete with NVidia’s high end.

I feel that will be the likely outcome.

They reached the limit of what licensing and hardware will allow, been told that directly.

The issue I have with that is.. SONY will be going down the AMD CPU/GPU route and they’ll have market share superiority, and where so much of the development will lead on SONY systems

Maybe Xbox/Microsoft can bring the most amazing AI upscaler into it and that will be the game changer

Dang, i was being hopefull that this could have potential to circumvent that to be honest.
