What I was getting at is free flying from one plane to another
The average distance of that would be extrememly far. Even given the better speed of futuristic space craft sthey would have in the 24th century, it’s not somehing you would want to sit through in a video game. Right now the fatsest we could get a craft to Mars is 9 months. Even if they greatly improve that to weeks, days, even hours, it’s still a total no go for a game
Hell, people complained about having to ride a horse for minutes on end to get places in Red Dead 2
much more impressive that you can board ships during combat than seamless flying which people would stop doing after the first few hours and just use the quick travel option.
edit: on another note, bethesda is evolving the creation engine like crazy and thankfully going back to it’s hardcore rpg roots. the next elder scrolls and fallout are going to be insane.
The hardcore RPG roots has me excited, but they didn’t really show it yet. But there’s no doubt about a second deep dive thing, they’ve only scratched the surface.
I would like to apologize for my outburst the other day. I was taking my anger out on others for the amount of backlash I was receiving for something I thought was very tame. But after speaking with a mod in private I understand the word I was using (which should be taboo from now on), to describe the show is something fanboys on the Sony side have been using for awhile. Which is why I see now that people took it as me trying to rain on there parade and dissuade them from there own personal enjoyment of the show, or somehow infer that indies are not welcome, which was not the intent. I was merely trying to express my own frustrations with the show but did it in a poor way. That being said, sorry
Just because they went only with the next 12 months does not automatically mean it will become their new thing from now on. At least I hope not. I would love to see Compulsion and inXile to name a few announce their games with (preferably a ingame trailer) even if it’s further away than the next 12 months, absolutely.
If only for the reason Mort pointed out about how insiders will be leaking the shit out of these games in terms of information, which would be unfortunate. But if they DO stick with this, it’s not a big problem if they have several more smaller shows (like a Direct) a year. Xbox clearly isn’t afraid or against showing stuff far off, Hellblade 2 was shown december last year who knows how far in advance.
