12 months in advance is what makes the most sense when you have a service like Game Pass.
You want to know whats coming in the year ahead, it also means Xbox has enough content to fill up an entire show to preview whats coming in the next 12 months. You wouldnt be able to do something like this in the past because there was a lack of studios. You would show a game thats 4 years out, and get snippets about it every following year which adds little to no value
I would be shocked if they showed the actual big games on their less popular show rather than the main show so I’m going to go with a no in terms of them showing Avowed, Hellblade 2 etc etc on the extended showcase.
It’s why I think they should just stick to the E3 show being stuff for the next 12 months, I think the overwhelming opinion is the idea of 12 months is good or ok at worst so if they just throw in maybe 1 or 2, 2-3 year out games that would be perfect. If they just stuck with this going forward it will setup expectations going forward to a base line. Like Nick and many have already said Inside Xbox wasn’t a bad show or format it was just the content, so once the content comes good for having only games in the next 12 months, I think people will be more on board.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Microsoft probably is so thankful that the general opinion of the show was great, considering they literally only have like 1-2 games out in this entire year but they managed to reset focus on the next 12 months and “got away” with it, with almost no real big dramas. I think we’ll see some drama again about it later in the year and it’ll probably be another one of those I’m cancelling my game pass things again.
This is what’s crazy you would think those numbers would be way worse considering the people who would be following him, it’s kinda funny to me that it seems like It’s mostly the hardcore Xbox people are the main people who are mostly upset. Then again even within the hardcore Xbox group many loved it so it really seems like a mix bag but only within a small minority, such a weird thing.
i think it comes down to what games you are interested in and what you expected.
For me, Starfield was probably it. It’s the only game shown I would buy Day 1 if it wasn’t on Game Pass. I also did not appreciate not being told it was a 12 months show beforehand. If I had known, expectations would have been more in line with what was there, and I would have made less of an event out of it. Would have been more fun to watch along with XboxEra for example, goofing around in chat and treat it like just another stream.
I was actually bored at times, and that’s a first. I also enjoy going back to watch reaction vids, it’s fun to see “how did XY react to this game” etc. But there was nothing like that this year, haven’t watched any. Very un-epic and meh. For me.
Next year I’ll just watch the XboxEra stream and talk to people instead of making it a happening with food and shit.
I think it wouldn’t be so bad if we knew from the start it would be the next 12 months. this would be the time aaron should have said temper expectations os it took people off guard myself included. However if thats what they want to do im fine with it do the next 12 months show and maybe smaller inside xboxtype shows and im good. it would just suck if we got this show and nothing till next june
Did you read all the leaks before the show? I’m starting to think there is for sure a mismatch between people who didn’t read any leaks and went in dark because it could explain why a large majority liked the show because they don’t follow the news as much and went in without expecting or knowing anything.
On the reaction videos, yeah I get that I love watching reaction videos after these events as well, the Persona ones are funny. I do think they probably need a big shock announcement and I guess Persona was suppose to be that and probably was to those fans but to a lot of Xbox fans it was probably a nothing burger and this is probably always going to happen, you can’t please everyone sadly. I guess they could probably have a big announcement shock of something like Ubisoft in game pass or something like that, which has the possibility of having almost everyone excited.
I went dark and saw no leaks, didn’t improve things unfortunately. It would probably have been better to have known things like Avowed not being there etc tbh.
