I don’t know what is it about Persona that it generates that much hype and talk honestly. It’s probably the most engaged announcement on Twitter, more than Kojima, more than Starfield.
It’s mostly the funny kind of posts, not the straight up toxic cringey ones tbh
I like that they only showed things coming in the next 12 months and hope that continues. I’m over shit like Everwild where they release cool trailers and then years later we still have no idea what the game actually is (and judging by the reports from last year neither did Rare) or when it’s coming. I don’t need to see it until it’s an actual game.
I saw a good amount of games I want to play, and I’m glad I won’t have to wait years for them to arrive. That’s really all I want from stuff like this, Nintendo Directs, etc.

The only thing I dislike is the Persona 3 port. The P3 portable version sucks.

Best AAA JRPG franchise nowadays and till recently it was locked on Playstation. Hell I think Persona 5 Royal was the highest rated PS4 exclusive on metacritic.
Nintendo didn’t open their wallet I guess.
…SEGA/Atlus would of made bank from a port because of the cross promotion with smash LMAO
I’m looking forward to trying 5. I played 4 on PS2 but didn’t go far with it, and it seems I won’t even touch 3 with many people saying they ported the worse version.

Here’s the thing:
Sony has seemingly shifted away from what has (imo) always worked to make them a dominate gaming platform. It’s what makes Steam the dominate PC gaming platform, and that is, just a massive quantity and variety of games. During the PS2 era, you could walk into a store and there would be all sorts unknown games on the shelf. You’d pick something up and maybe get a stinker, or maybe you’d find a hidden gem, it was fun finding a new game to play. If you find something cool you’d tell all your friends and they’d go get the game, that was part of the experience. Game Pass is doing a lot of that now, while Sony is chasing blockbusters and buying exclusivity of big names. I guess that is fine, but I can’t help but think they are doing this to prop up their morbin crappy movie studio(s).

What I missed in this showcase except for Starfield is something that visually blows me off my chair. Redfall looked fine, nothing shocking though but I was hoping for something that makes you truly say…now this is current gen for sure. Again, Starfield was that one game but had they shown more of Hellblade 2 for example or something else it would have gone a long way.
Also, no Compulsion after all. 
Persona 3 is in an awkward position and I think there’d be people saying they ported the worse version no matter what version they did. They originally made an upgraded PS2 version with an epilogue, which I hear people don’t like all that much, and later made the portable version. The portable version does not include the epilogue and simplifies some of the exploration but does include gameplay improvements and gives you a choice to play a female protagonist which changes up a lot of the dialogue/relationships.
Honestly I think they made the right choice but a merged port would have been better. But then, it’s Atlus I’m just glad after years of waiting we’re finally getting a port at all.

That’s a good point that felt like it shoulda been an easy win for Microsoft in a quiet year.
Maybe Gamescom for AoE. I’m expecting Goldeneye on a future Nintendo direct.
