Yeah me too, unless the show is longer than 90 minutes I doubt we will get as many indies as last year.
Yeah, we should have less filler this year because this time there will be many more content there in pure gameplay. Last year we basically had on Forza, a litle bit of Halo and STALKER2. Donât remember anything else.
GoodnessâŚindies are âfillerâ? Is that what youâre implying?
If anything, itâs the opposite. Indie, or smaller games in general, can help pace out a show and give it room to breathe. Especially on a show thatâs not with a live audience, etc.
I agree with this which is why I was questioning the comment. Hades is indie, I canât imagine a world where thatâs considered âfillerâ.
Hades is an exceptional game but it has become âexceptionalâ after the release (like a lot of games become big after the release). And during E3 the highlight was not the game per se, but the fact it is coming on Xbox. That was the news.
It like letâs say FF7R or P5G announcements for Xbox - these games are old and squarehatted to the core - but them coming to Xbox would be a huge deal.
Xbox really should have a weekly video outlining new releases both AAA and indie, they really shouldâŚ
Iâm not arguing the importance of âAAAâ games. Iâm simply startled and a bit saddened by the fact that people ITT are discrediting games simply because theyâre âindieâ, calling them filler. These games are often incredible and almost every year my Top 10 is at least 1/2 filled with indies. I always say it, but a good game is a good game, regardless of label or budget. I play games, not budgets and labels.
Edit: also, Hades was never not exceptional. Itâs been an incredible game since early access.
I expect a bugsnaxx DLC blowout at least 15 min
I think we should not have that many indies. We had 4 big games last time - Stalker, Halo, Foza and BF2042. And only one had a relatively long showcase - Forza.
This time we expect something similar for Avowed, Forza Motorsport, Contraband, Starfield and Redfall at least. And thatâs without other first party announcements - last time we did not have that many.
Not to mention that indies can often become the talk of the show. Like that one cyberpunk style 2d game that I can never remember the name ofâŚ
Replaced.
Ah, thatâs it! Thanks.
Touche! I do agree that the focus of the show should be on larger titles, but I think a mix of smaller and even third party titles can help spread things out. Also gives breathing room in between large reveals, etc.
I remember last year the flow broke when Party Animals were show straight after Halo or something. Was a crazy moment.
The reason only some games are âbigâ is because there is not that many of them. That is what makes them uniqueâŚ
Completely agree. Xbox can hold off on showing some of their big titles that are 2024+. Extended Gameplay trailers for Starfield, RefFall, Forza Motorsport, Contraband, and a few other notable titles will fill out the 90 minutes for an excellent show without the need for sacrificing pacing to have multiple CGI trailers for âthe big projectsâ.
Iâd rather have gameplay looks at indie games like Somerville, The Planet of Lana, and Replaced then a CGI trailer for like inXileâs RPG. Show that to me when we can get gameplay
We already saw Replaced and Somerville no?
Yeah perhaps my message wasnât clear - I meant games in that sphere. Smaller, artistic indie projects where get a glimpse of the gameplay. Unique experiences we can have only on Xbox, via Game Pass on Day 1. I think those add more to conferences than CGI trailer after CGI trailer for âbigâ AAA projects (especially if those are new IPs, where players have no prior connection to the universe or the characters)
To be clear: there is a place for those types of trailers in a conference (both for the viewing audience and for recruiting game developers) I just think the notion of pushing in big projects to a showcase, in lieu of indie titles has its consequences. Considering the Xbox first party pipeline, I am not sure we have a ton of big titles that could be shown with full gameplay looks outside of the big ones we are all expecting (Forza, RedFall, Starfield, Contraband). Avowed I guess, but I am thinking they save that for Opening Night Live at Gamescom to give Starfield its due. So I am assuming those would be pre-rendered trailers, and I am not sure thatâs better than elevating particular indie games imo
What was that other game called from a few years ago? Also a similar visual style as Replaced.
Seems that just stopped existingâŚ
