You can do both. Stop saying niche like noone cares about them.
Also the chill pills should be for the person getting angry at the thought of them showing a diverse list of games.
Microsoft barely has any fucking events throughout the year so they cant just do a 90 min show and just show 1st party
Guess what? 3rd parties rely on big events to promote their games. Of they have xbox games coming out it makes sense to try and show them. Remember Elden ring? Was unveiled at ms show. Kingdom hearts 3? Was unveiled at ms conference. Wouldn it be great to unveil RE4 remake or Monster hunter world 2 at an xbox event? Of course it would.
Nothing wrong with showing 30 second trailer for games coming out this year and next
But no people want 30 minute alpha footage of fable that wont come out until 2024. Anything coming out after fall 2023âŚdont bother showing it.
When ms buys activision. They absolutely have to start doing mini events throughoit the year like sony and nintendo. Youre not being fair to any of your parners and studios by cramming in everything into 1 event.
I wouldnât say Iâm angry. Nor am I screaming at someone else to âGTFOâ among other stuff like you did for having a different opinion in a forum.
Look man, i get you like/want that stuff or whatever but 99.9% of ppl watching this event will be there for Bethesda and the other big AAA games or big announcements. Everything else is side content. Do you really think a lot of ppl care about a 25 year old james bond game unless itâs a AAA remake? Thatâs going to be the kind of moment ppl will go to take a leak or streamers read the chat.
Yes, Elden Ring was announced first during an Xbox E3 then when it mattered they went with Keighley for the rest of their trailers. Big deal.
But no people want 30 minute alpha footage of fable that wont come out until 2024. Anything coming out after fall 2023âŚdont bother showing it.
Well i agree with that, but Xbox already did the opposite. So I guess itâs time to show something from games they announced 2 years ago. Donât you think?
It really isnât because they have a lot of stuff announced from years ago. So instead of throwing in there whatever indie they can, show Everwild, Fable etc that were announced 2 years ago.
Also, donât get me wrong. Indies are fine, just donât do it in the main and only event you have. That leaves the impression that you have nothing to show.
Indie games are important, especially when some of them are more innovative and quite frankly, just better than the vast majority of AAA games out there
I really doubt ms will continue with just one event from this year onwards, but even if it is, 90 minutes is way too much time to just see AAA gameplay of first party games.
Indies are gonna be there, and I donât really like the classification of indies anymore, some of the best games Iâve played this past year were considered indies. Obviously you can have the opinion that indies should be little to none in the main showcase but donât put that out there like itâs the general consensus because itâs not.
Indie games are an essential part of a MS showcase. It shows MS is giving them great attention and exposure, and you want to have indie devs knowing they matter.
I didnât say there arenât good indie games. Iâm talking about what the general public is expecting from this showcase and I doubt indies are among that, especially after so many acquisitions.
Doesnât Nintendo have a separate indie showcase or something? I do not remember what games did they promote on their DirectsâŚAlso was there indies on PSX even in autumn? (that Sony had).
I am fine with indies but I donât want to see the same games again, considering that the bunch of indie games that were shown last year havenât been released yet.
For indies, the most important metric is how popular the platform is. No matter if Nintendo shows indies or not during their showscases, developers flock there due to sheer market share of the platform.
For MS, they want to showcase as much indies as possible, to put them on the same pedestal as AAA games. Thatâs why they always alternate between AAA games and indies in their showcase. They donât want one to be seen as less then the others.
Indies make up a lot of Game Pass titles, so by extension they will always have a place at Xboxâs main showcase. Sorry if that does not meet your expectations.
Exactly, MS main showcase is a way for them to show their future road-map and Game Pass catalog, as well as a celebration of gaming. Indies are fully a part of that, so they have the right to be there as well. Only putting AAA games on a show is not celebrating gaming.
How am I wrong? If I were wrong indie games would be the most sold and played games and they arenât. Just because you like indies doesnât mean general public care about them. They want good looking, big AAA games. And thatâs exactly what most ppl expect from Xbox after all the acquisitions and promises.
And again, nothing wrong with indies. Make a separate show for them.
Do indie developers even reciprocate these feelings though? It feels like unless Microsoft pays, a lot of developers just naturally flock to Playstation (despite all the issues there) and Nintendo regardless if PS or Nintendo promotes them or not. Because no matter how people complain about Playstation, indie devs are less likely to skip the platform.
Microsoft should start doing smaller showcases just before the game release because for example I am pretty sure that we are gonna see Somerville, Party Animals, ReâŚwhatever again despite seeing the games last year. Make Game Pass shows once per month or something similar or once per quarter or something.
But the majority of the eyes are on the summer showcases. Itâs actually the best place to tell people what is coming in the future for the subscription service.
I really do not know why this debate is even being had. Xbox has had indies being part of their E3s for a long time now, because they value being able to show that Xbox is a platform for every kind of developer, itâs hardly a controversial topic.
