Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase announced for Sunday June 12 at 10 a.m. PT + Xbox Games Showcase Extended on June 14th at 10am PT (Spoiler Free)

You’ll never convince me that some of the the Xbox influencers aren’t just trolling with a lot of the predictions they make.

My stance is who knows when Fable releases lol. I can definitely see Fable releasing in late 2024 or early 2025, but it’s hard to predict since there is little information to base it upon. All we really have is Grubb stating it’s internally stated to release in 2024.

They’re still hiring like mad, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they had a long prototyping and pre-production phase to build the core team and tools necessary to enter full production, and have only been in full production since 2021 or something making a 2024, early 2025 release likely. This is all just empty speculation though, because again, there is little information to base it on.

I can agree with this. 2019 and 2018 were great and better than 2021 and 2020 in my opinion. Definitely want more gameplay trailers, overview trailer for Forza Motorsport (10 min like FH 5 last year), blowout for Starfield and then 3-5 minutes for the rest. Then deep dives for those 3-5 minute games the following day on the extended showcase.

Rand said “almost” every studio submitted something. A few submitted multiple things which makes sense like Obsidian. Avowed/Grounded 1.0/Sawyer’s game is just one example. I’m not expecting Coalition, InXile or Compulsion. I think the game reveals would be the smaller AA titles or third party exclusives like IO Interactive’s game as an example.

Definitely expecting much more gameplay than the last two years and the showcase being more like 2018/2019 like AllianceOfficer mentioned above.

I don’t see “one more thing” happening this year if Starfield closes out the showcase which in all honesty, it should. Save the “one more thing” for Gamescom.

He was just giving his own predictions like anyone else here. Not that he’s privvy to development status.

When working on a project this big, there are multiple senior staff positions in the same area. Doesn’t mean they don’t have senior engineers, they’re just looking to add another

Indeed. Even in the smaller sized companies I worked at, a development team around 10 or less had at least 4 Senior Engineers along with long-standing job postings for Senior Engineer and Junior Engineer.

I wonder what kind of demos they’re, must be tech related actually, hoping for some Super Res stuff…

I am not sure on a two hour show. I really think the 90ish minute window is a perfect length for a virtual showcase, and if you need more time, go with another Extended Showcase in the days after. When you start getting into 2+ hours, I really think the potential for pacing issues greatly increase

Yeah, it can be longer than 90 minutes, but people start mentally checking out after a while.

Idle Sloth now also saying 90 minutes is confirmed, but SGF twitter has it listed for two hours. Unclear if that includes any kind of preshow. Nothing has been confirmed though.

Still hoping for two hours and no pre-show which is usually shit anyway. If Starfield is 30 minutes which im fully expecting it to be, it’s more like a 90 minute showcase anyway. Don’t see pacing being an issue since it’s a digital event. Only way this happens is if they have talking segments that go too long or too many in a row.

Two hour showcase baby!!! Let’s go!!! :joy:

I am fine with 90 minutes if there will be extended showcases.

Two hours is too long for a normal consumer. And there won’t be 30 minutes of Starfield. Without crowd there is no point for Todd to tell stories or jokes. And for all the system explanation - it is not enough either. I expext 10-15 minutes with some deep dive on a later date.

Though of course 10 minutes is not enough - Forza Horizon had 10 and basically showed nothing.

SGF?

This.

Going forward they should be able to do deepdives for games.

Yeah, if the rumored extended showcases for Xbox and Bethesda are true then it will fine to have deep dives there. Or at least make State of Play style video similar to what GT7 had. It was really neat (though felt even then slightly long). Of course they can do deep dive on Quake Con too if necessary.
