That’s fine for games still a year or two away.
The key is a good mix imo, people talk a lot lately about gameplay because of the 2020’s showcase i guess, that was tough to see.
For me, a perfect “E3” show should have at least 2-3 gameplay first party games, 2-3 realtime (1 of these could be CG too) announcement/showing, and a “One more thing” moment. Sadly, surprising people is getting maybe too hard for Xbox due to insiders leaking pretty much everything.
I’ll be really pissed if we don’t see Avowed, and a couple of other first party 2023 games at all because they listened to the maniacal “MUST SEE GAMEPLAY” folks and keep those games under wraps until next year.
Obsidian, XGSP, and Ninja Theory are probably the most clear picks (imo) for showing more than one thing.
Edit: BGS is a pretty easy pick too.
I want to see Avowed as well but I want to be reasonable with my expectations too, last year people expect InXile, Compulsion, Ninja Theory, Undead and other projects including Avowed but we ended with none of these. Priority for 2nd half of this year for: Starfield, Redfall, Forza M, Deathloop Complete Edition, As Dusk Fall, Stalker 2 and GaaS content … “might be their a new RTS game or PC projects”
Regarding to Contraband, Jez believe it’s a 2023 game so I go with him. Expect gameplay in june, release date 1st half of 2023.
Other announcements, I’ll consider it as surprises “yes including Avowed”.
If that is true, there is gonna be a LOT of games shown.
Hmmm I’m pretty sure not all submissions are shown lol
But it bodes will for more future shows, after this year it literally doesn’t make any sense to not have a show like every quarter or something like that. There’s an argument that there should be a show between June and TGAs
I think X0 will return at some point and fill that niche.
Biggest time frame that needs to be addressed is between TGA and Summer.
Agreed. A show in March would be ideal.
Absolutely, I just see some a few things that seem to be pretty safe bets:
Obsidian: Grounded, Avowed
Ninja Theory: Hellblade 2, Project Mara (least likely of the group I’d say)
BGS: Fallout 76, Starfield
Just my thoughts though!
That isn’t really true though.
A few years ago they had Spidey, Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU2 gameplay, and quite a few minutes of it too. I thought that was damn cool. Maybe they had a fourth game too.
But that one podcast said they have no games!!!
On a serious note, this sounds promising. It’s a rumor so I shall not get too crazy yet though.
Yes, the mUstT sEe oNly gAmePLay-crowd is incredibly obnoxious.
I think it will depend on what is shown because I think Microsoft would want to save most of it for their own event.
I think Hellblade 2 is hard to predict because they’ve already worked on a demo for TGA last year and we know those demos take time and resources. It would be good to have it but I think the next time we see it will be 6 months or so before its release imo. Unless NT is maybe setup differently where they can work on demos throughout development more efficiently.
Maybe. I just feel if this ends up being a 2023 release (god I hope), they’re more likely to at least show something for it at their biggest showcase.
I suppose it also depends on how the UE5 integration is going for the project too and how much that may have set back the game’s release.
I just don’t think they waste time putting together a new demo like 6 months after showing a 7 (or however long) minute one. Would love to be suprised, but I don’t think it’s H1 2023 so they’ll have lots of opportunities to show it before release.
We could see a change in show cadence next year, with Hellblade kicking off a big Spring showcase.
Possibly! It could just be a cinematic trailer with gameplay stitched in between too so we can actually have an idea what the game’s about.
I do know a lot of people want to see what actual combat looks like, so we’ll see. I hope so, but keeping my expectations low on that one.
