Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase announced for Sunday June 12 at 10 a.m. PT + Xbox Games Showcase Extended on June 14th at 10am PT (Spoiler Free)

About RTS, what could we expect as announcements?

AOE4 console Is 100%

AOMde/AOM2?

Project Indus?

zenimax’s RTS?

StarCraft 3?

Honestly, even though I am not a fan of Geoff, but they could use his summer gamefest as a preshow for some of the games that didn’t make the cut.

Project Indus is a possibility. Zenimax MMO (or whatever RPG you are making) is a high possibility, but not RTS.

I am not trying to pile on shinobi in particular here who I think is generally a pretty good dude that likes games in general even though he definitely seems to lean Sony fan, but this is the type of mindset that I think is unfair regarding Xbox compared to anyone else regarding their upcoming showcase. This reads like we are somehow supposed to expect a clear roadmap of release dates on a bunch of announced games with a ton of gameplay on a bunch of games too.

We know that we are getting a bunch of Starfield gameplay (assume some Redfall too) likely during the showcase itself and after, which would be similar to Sony doing the same thing for Horizon Zero Dawn when it was upcoming. Other than that Sony pretty much puts up a couple of other hype trailers with small amounts of gameplay/cinematics like most publishers, and then they even put crap like the lies with God of War sequel having a 2022 date and nothing else the first time they showed it. Again, maybe he didn’t mean it to come across this way. I get that people want to see some fruits of the first party, but Xbox also shouldn’t have some unfair bar compared to others to show a bunch of “deep dive” gameplay segments for multiple games and a clearly defined roadmap way out with dates and such.

I don’t think he necessarily means gameplay deep dives for multiple games, just trailers that show something. And that is definitely something Sony and Nintendo often do well. Trailers that show gameplay bits so you just get an idea of what something is. I think that’s what he means. For most of their Directs and SoPs they had trailers that contained very little CGI or cinematics and just showed how the games actually looked, I think that’s a fair expectation. But that is my guess based on that tweet.

In the last few shows we did have quite a few of cinematic trailers and that’s simply because it was too early, but they HAD to show something, but moving forward that shouldn’t be as big of a problem anymore.

People are always biased especially when they are engaging in the online community on a regular basis.

Fair enough, and I would hope to see some “gameplay” of something like Avowed too for example. So yeah, maybe I am just reading too much into things there. I am personally hyped to see any type of reveal tease for the next Compulsion game, but I have no idea if they would be ready to do that one yet or not.

I think we see more gameplay than CGI this year because that was one of the bigger complaints from last year was that they had a lot of CGI announcements

What if we get a Morrowind remake/remaster ?

Morrowind remake requires literally creation from scratch because aside the plot everything else has to be created from scratch.

I preordered the game based on that trailer alone lol. I’m not disappointed 100% with the game though, and I hope the Gamepass add will help boost its numbers as nurtured the game still has potential imo.

2077 I disagree with most though as in the wild I haven’t heard of anyone talk bad about the game at launch, only online so imo that was a huge success and one of the best games the year it was released.

I’d fucking go nuts, because its sadly a game I didn’t give a real shot on XBOX, only tried it on PC and my PC wasn’t strong enough for it. Wish I had bought the game as soon as I got my XBOX, but instead Oblivion became my first BGS game.

Tried the game last year but that combat system is just…rough, to say the least.

Also, this sadly. I doubt it’s happening anytime soon.

Yeah

These games are not only huge but require so much re-work that you’d essentially be needing teams the size of a modern BGS team and support studios to actually get it done

At that point why put all that time, money and resources into a remake when you could spend the same on a new FO/Elder Scrolls

Personally, I agree with Shinobi and there’s nothing wrong with what he said. It’s time to show GAMEPLAY for all the games (or at least majority of them) that have been announced/revealed from July 2020 and June 2021 respectively.

I don’t need actual release dates unless the game is releasing before June 2023. Then yes, I want release dates for those games. Starfield we know. Forza Motorsport is most likely September so we’ll get a date for that. Redfall this year or early 2023 should have a release date. If Avowed and/or Contraband are releasing before June 2023 then yes, they should have release dates. The rest like Fable, Hellblade 2, etc. don’t need a release date but a year at the end of the trailer would be nice.

Difference with Sony and Microsoft is simple. Most of the games Sony has shown are sequels. Miles, Spider Man 2, HFW, GOWR, etc. so you should already know what to expect from the game itself where as with Microsoft, their games are either new IP’s or reboots and thus, need to show gameplay, the visuals, the world, combat, etc.

I’m not expecting “deep dives” for every game. One massive 30 minute blowout for Starfield which in my mind is a given, a 10 or so minute overview trailer for Forza Motorsport which is also a given to me as I expect it to release in the Fall and Forza Horizon 5 had 10 or so minutes a year ago so I would expect the same for Motorsport. Everything else just need a basic 4-6 minute gameplay trailer showcasing the visuals, the world, combat, gameplay, exploration, etc. by simply showing a “quest/mission” and that’s it.

Getting a few minutes of gameplay for the vast majority of games that Microsoft has announced the last two years isn’t asking much. In fact, it should be expected. I’m expecting a lot of gameplay because it’s time. I have waited almost a decade for Microsoft to finally do what they’re doing and yeah, I want to see gameplay especially since I don’t know how any of these games look or how the combat is or anything. I get a general premise/idea but okay, that doesn’t tell me how the game is when WE’RE playing them. How the games are when actually being played is what I want to see and after all these years of waiting, that’s not asking much.

Agreed. This has been my complaint for the last two years. I want less CGI trailers. Two at most for a new game reveal is fine but going past that, meh. Also, I want more AAA third party games being shown. And finally, I don’t want it to be a “Game Pass” show which is what I get the feeling every year is going to be which is great for some but not for me because I know the vast majority are either Indies or online co-op/multi-player AA games and none of these apply to me.

Show me the AAA blockbusters. First and third party. Show me a few minutes of gameplay for a lot of games. Give me a few release dates for the rest of 2022 and the first half of 2023. This isn’t complicated. If anything, it’s pretty damn simple.

AAA 3rd party wise the only game I can conceivably think of being shown is maybe Jedi Fallen Order 2. Also aside from CoD what big 3rd party releases are there for this fall/holiday?

Gotham Knights probably. Maybe Wonder Woman? Or would be hilarious to get SF6 :fire:

Gameplay or not depends on where a game is in both it’s dev cycle and it’s marketing cycle. I don’t want to see too early stuff that either can’t be lived up to in the end or is later changed too much. Only close to release will I care about seeing a little bit of gameplay, I prefer to discover most of that whilst playing myself anyway.

CGI/In-engine stuff is fine for a long while.

The only games I expect to see proper gameplay from is Redfall and Starfield and whatever else is releasing soon.

You said it better than I tried to. The bottom line is that Sony has never done a showcase with a ton of first party gameplay for multiple games all in a single cycle, so there shouldn’t be any type of arbitrary bar set for Xbox first party here either. The reality for me personally is that Starfield gameplay alone is enough for me to be super hyped, and everything else including seeing the large buffet of big first party and other games for Game Pass will make their showcase a total banger for me no matter what

Basically. With Avowed and Forza Motorsport as well.

I think emphasis on gameplay is overstated, I just want to see stuff running in real time at least. Cut scenes, scripted sequences, I’m fine with whatever.
