I would focus on both particularly cause campaign visuals were the reason this whole thing got delayed in the first place.
Popular Halo YouTuber Mint Blitz pass some interesting questions about campaign versus multiplayer. Considering that both polls had over 100,000 responses I thought the data was pretty significant.
That said, Microsoft also did this with Halo 2 where in one E3 they focused on campaign and on the second E3 they focused on multiplayer.
But that was a different time and generally people were impressed by single player on itâs first showing. Itâs a little different this time around.
Itâs pretty evident THEY MUST SHOW CAMPAIGN
Xbox has the luxury that they can tell Xbox One owners to use Xcloud once games like Starfield, Avowed, Hellblade 2 come out. I expect console to have Xcloud then too, absolutely. This is a luxury Sony doesnât have.
People always underestimate how important Halos campaign is.
Yep
If it wasnt h5 would be more liked lol.
That or calm the fans down by saying there will be a special stream for it after the show or a prerecorded video that people can check, something like that. Ideally the focus is both, not MP focus , balance. But alas.
I expect it will start with a trailer where weâll see new campaign footage and then itâs straight to MP.
I reckon multiplayer gameplay, then a new trailer with bits of MP and campaign.
Halo needs to be extensive, show off all parts, and detail the roadmap
I think Hindle that Halo needs a dedicated stream post E3 to show everything off. Its impossible to cover everything the game offers in 1 E3 segment where time is crucial.
Halo Infinite and Forza are the perfect excuses to FINALLY ADOPT THE STATE OF PLAY/DIRECT FORMAT.
Interesting use of KotOR clips when discussing a Star Wars game or remake
I always play the campaign first but tbh thatâs mostly because I know servers are going to be trash first night.
Since the advent of digital games with midnight releases, I always load a game up right at midnight to check out the menus, and then go to bed, and upon waking up immediately load up the multiplayer.
I donât play multiplayer modes at all, so selfishly if games never featured that in shows I would of course love it. So therefore I WANT to see just the campaign, however when people say dramatic, yes dramatic, things like they âneed toâ, âmustâ, have to" itâs a bit much.
If they hypothetically show zero aspects of the campaign during the show people will of course flip out and spiral into a long cycle of FUD, but is anyone going to boycott the game or campaign when it releases, seems unlikely, so all this hand ringing is so extra, but here we are.
As @javycane mentioned, it needs its own show.
Iâve outlined what such a show could look like, here:
In a nutshell, there is no other game like Halo. MS needs to treat it like that.
As far as E3 goes I think a live demonstration of multiplayer would be great and a pre-recorded montage of the campaign showing off the various levels and baddies would be good. And then announce an Inside Xbox dedicated to it along with beta details. That would be my ideal Halo showing for the conference.
What Halo needs is a Nintendo-style follow-up session after the Showcase. Iâd love to see the showcases be a bit tighter but give more in-depth demos after the big show.
Just donât do the eSports thing they did with the Halo 5 multiplayer reveal, and weâll be golden.
Halo should have a new area shown of the campaign along with an overview of the modes in the MP as well as the date for when the open beta for MP starts.
Then in late October, two weeks or so before Halo Infinite releases, thatâs when they have a deep dive for the game which would also include the changes, updates, etc. based on the open beta.
