Xbox+Bethesda: Discussion Thread

Looks like I’ll be avoiding this place for the next few days.

See what I mean. Poor messaging and now we gotta see stuff like this.

They probably just think exclusivity announcements will be more of a megaton during “E3” (or however this year shakes out) when more eyes will be on them than a random Tuesday blog post.

It’s super frustrating for hyper-connected fans like us but this is always the way it is (the whole industry, not just Microsoft). They keep stuff a secret until such time as they’ve precisely calculated is best according to their PR strategy.

I still expect basically all Bethesda games to be Xbox/PC exclusives. It’s the only outcome that makes sense. But they’ll tell us when they deem the time is right. :stuck_out_tongue:

good thing Bethesda’s games are coming to gamepass the office wink GIF

This isn’t true. We now know some games will be exclusive to Xbox and PC. Before this you still had people arguing Bethesda was just going to remain completely multiplat.

Hehe. True.

There is only one way this discussion is going.

Yup and this will be the narrative if they continue with case by case. They needed to be bold and firm, and they didn’t do that, which is going to leave the room for this every time a game is released. Plus people on the fence are going to assume these games will come on playstation, which is bad if they don’t want another 3:1 gap in market share this gen

Really you dont gotta LOVE or accept everything Microsoft does. Great that the deal went through, they know about the uncertainty of the exclusives being talked about for months and today they just moved the dirty pond again and filled it with dirt for at least 4 more months.

Complaining about THAT is valid. You can be happy while also saying the messaging is atrocious again (not mutually exclusive).

This makes zero sense, MS BOUGHT Bethesda, no megatons if your first party games are exclusives. The real megaton will be if a Bethesda high profile game isn’t exclusive.

Anyway congrats to MS for having the gaming media starting to , vaguely, make fun of its biggest acquisition ever. The game informer piece is just the beginning,

I refuse to believe this so loosely though. What good reason is there to not have TES VI as one of the “some future games will be exclusive”?

But the thing is, the message could have been clearer. We all know about the existing deals, Phil mentioned those in some of the interviews last year. That they would honor those deals. So I guess it’s way more than just Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo and assuming here…Wolfenstein 3?

Then on to Starfield. Jim Ryan had no idea what was going to happen, which tells me there is no obligation or contract. I would say it’s a given Starfield is exclusive. But maybe not. It could very well be “best on Game Pass” instead of “some future titles will be exclusive”.

This all sounds very much like what the CFO said, only he was talking about existing content. I don’t know anymore. I guess there really are several more deals they have to honor that we might not yet know about.

I promise you If Xbox would have said all games will be exclusive there would still be poor clickbaity articles.

I don’t think so. From the very beginning people only thought about TES, Starfield and probably Fallout, maybe Doom regarding exclusivity. Nobody cared about other games. This message did not resolve anything and just added some fuel to fire, that those games are coming to Playstation.

I guess my question is though… why should any of us be upset over these games being multiplat?

Like what do we lose out of this, especially if they’re all coming to Game Pass?

I just don’t understand why people are so upset about this… unless you actually trade Microsoft stock…

So ? That would actually send a message about how serious MS is about Xbox , the console not just gamepass.

4 more months of “Why Elder Scrolls and Starfield can still come to Playstation”.

You had quite a few people claiming Bethesda would be working completely on its own and MS would just be taking in their money.

At the very least, those claims are put to rest.

The thing is, is it really worth getting your nickers in a twist when they haven’t even announced the games yet. The E3 event they could announce Starfield and say it’s a full exclusive and all the moaning here would’ve been for nothing. Just wait till the games are announced and their exclusiveness is mentioned. For all we know Deathloop 2 and Ghostwire Tokyo 2 are the only multiplats.

Why 4? E3 should be in less than 3.

Because some of us care about the brand? and its ridiculous and asinine that you spend that amount of money on Zenimax and not leverage it beyond a glorified gamepass deal.

I promise you not everybody cares about gamepass even tho its great.

Same I love most of y’all but I’m tired of the argument.
