Xbox at Tokyo Game Show 2022 | September 15

But it does not tell much. What iconic gameplay moments? And how?

Once again, Game Pass wins again. Once again, where’s my offering for my ā€œdon’t have but thinking about it but not being helped to make my decisionā€ PS+?

They are only now starting to get a grip in Japan. This requires offices and local people there to locate and negotiate with developers and studios and help them bring stuff to Xbox. I’m not sure they have that in China (yet).

Babysteps, but we’re getting there.

Level 5 is such a lovely surprise. Bridges had been burned years ago and it’s so good to see they are good again. I love that we’re gonna play NNK

Today!!!

For those who just woke up.

I thought it was a good show with that said I do hope MS have so more Publishing deals other then Kojima

Better than I expected considering my expectations were below the floor but they needed a better ending imo and the show would have been elevated.

When that was being shown I was half thinking/hoping that they would show a hint or tease of the location of the next Forza Horizon…

They should, I believe it makes sense to expect they will, but they will probably not announce them at TGS.

I thought it was going to be all the old Forza horizon games relisted on the store/GamePass…

Didn’t some of them appear for purchase earlier in the year

I fully expected the announcement of Horizon 6 in Japan, yeah!

Absolutely! We also had Exoprimal during this show, which to me actually looked a lot better than previously.

But with that said, I hope they take this into account for their E3 shows too. I don’t necessarily wish for their next E3 show to be a Game Pass centric show again, balance it out. Have a lot of Game Pass stuff and then a segment of games not coming to the service but just coming to Xbox the system.

Too early.

Maybe not. It’s been two-ish years between them, and they’ve got the engine running on the Series platform now too. 2021 to 2023 is a good break, but with FM8 coming out next year they’d be good to wait until 2024…

Good to see Arcsys. Not so good for me personally because I don’t play fighters. I’d only check out Cross Tag Battle because Senran Kagura characters are in it.

Ni no Kuni games are great to see. Especially since I didn’t play them. I would like for this to mean JRPG additions to Game Pass are gonna start picking back up again but I won’t get too high hopes for that. The JRPG skips that happened this week hurt more than this heals tbh.

Danganronpa was obvious but at least it’s available now

Fuga is nice, I know CC2 really needs the money. Maybe it can get people more excited for Fuga 2 now.

Ugh, they did the Deathloop thing. That spot was purely for the Westerners watching. Deathloop sold like 5k in Japan total including digital. Can’t imagine that garnered any JP audience attention. I guess if there wasn’t anything to fill that slot anyway.

So overall, better than I thought, but glad I slept.

The two devs I still wanna see on Xbox, NIS (NISA by extension, therefore Falcom too), and Gust, still don’t look like they’re gonna be coming to Xbox anytime soon. There’s an Atlus backlog they should be picking at too. Catherine Full Body, 13 Sentinels, SMT Nocturne

And with the conclusion of this show, I hope to start seeing surprise JP games on Tuesday drops again, because I feel like they’ve been ā€œsavingā€ some of them, like Fuga and Danganronpa.

In their defense, they made the most out of the situation of delay haven, because let’s face it, we saw far too many than any other year, and that includes 2020. Xbox thought it’s wise to talk about games that will release within the 12 months window. Also, many games got announced elsewhere, so they made what they have left the best of it.

Honestly, if they do the 12 months release again, it will be a lot more significant than this year. We know the games already, but think about going from second half 2023 to first half 2024. The best part is aside from live service games, you can expect new titles being shown rather than seeing the same ones again because they haven’t released yet. TGS 2023 will be filled with titles aren’t shown here unless they get delayed or live service.

While it’s great to get individual games we’ve missed like this, the more important factor is the dev relationship with Xbox being restored.

Level-5’s very public falling out with MS is well known and the results were their games simply skipped the platform by default. See also; Arcsys.

Having them both back on board is very important for the Xbox brand as it goes some way to restoring confidence that those who invest in it won’t have to be made to regret it.

Square-Enix’s actions are regrettable, but, if anything, they are starting to look more and more like pariahs for it.

I straight up thought one shot in that game looked liked they ripped Ellie’s walking animation from TLOU.:joy: that might be a stretch, but I don’t know why suddenly I thought ā€œEllie?ā€:joy:

Looks neat though, might check it out.
