Xbox announces Developer_Direct for January 18th - Indiana Jones, Avowed, Hellblade II and more

How can you accept a game for what it is if you don’t like it? Doesn’t really make sense to me. If I don’t like the gameplay then I’ll never enjoy the game, simple as that.

yeah lol, my bad. I still have not played it so this is probably why.

Larian for sure deserve all their accolades (divinity os are great games) so i have no issue with them. I just think its rather unhealty if this is you benchmark. I’m pretty sure Greedfall 2 will be lots of Euro jank but its one of my most wanted game of this year.

I don’t care too much about Avowed having high-end production value. For a game like that I care more about the plot, characters , writing, and combat system. As long as those elements are good, then I am more than fine

Exactly. It looks better than TOW and that’s enough for me (and I love TOW).

Yeah, not every game needs to have high-end production value like Cybyerpunk. People don’t realize how expensive that is for an RPG and I expect very few RPGs to have high-end production like that because those games have top of the line budget

Not to mention the game is poorly optimised to run on its targeted hardware.

Another one.

This one is 1920x1080, and the highest I’ve seen:

Here’s a direct link in case the forum software does some compression or something. I don’t know what happens to images you upload as a post attachment.

Nothing against Ninja Theory and I’m sure most would disagree with me on this, but of those four games, I’m least interested in Hellblade 2. While I love the music, I probably won’t get super far in it. The other three though I’m expecting to spend quite a bit of time with. It’s cool to see a lot of variety from Xbox.

Hellblade 2 already looks way too intense and mentally exhausting lmao, I’m sure some people love that, but yeah it’s gonna be a one playthrough and done for me.

With Gamepass, one playthrough and done is pretty much all I have to dedicate to any one game lol, there is so much to play honestly I’m actually scared of starting longer games. I also have lots of older games I try to go through when I find the time, so many gems stuck in the previous generations. Really makes you wish all games were around 10-20 hours max.

My main interest is definitely Avowed, with Hellblade 2 being second.

My main interest is that big blank space between Ninja Theory and MachineGames :winking_face_with_tongue:.

Am I the only one reading that differently? It almost seems like they’re saying, “yeah we’re seeing it, but it’s not coming out for a while”.

He’s saying that it’s not shocking we’re seeing Indy now because it’s coming soon (this year).

If you assume the game is coming in a few years, then yes it’s shocking to see it now. But if it’s coming this year (which it seems to be), then it’s not shocking at all. That’s what he’s saying.

I think the inference is ‘if you knew when it was coming out’ counters the already. Already implies the game is far away, which it evidently isn’t.

It sounds like to me he’s saying it’s not shocking they’re showing it off now because it’s coming soon.

I’m aware how everyone else is interpreting it. I’m saying I’m not so sure that’s how it was intended.

Why else would he say it’s not really shocking though? If the game was 2025 or later then wouldn’t he agree that its shocking its being shown off now?

I definitely interpret it that it’s coming very soon e.g. within the next few months.
