Xbox announces Developer_Direct for January 18th - Indiana Jones, Avowed, Hellblade II and more

I wonder which game will be first half of the year

Why not all 4? Hypothetically speaking, they are all titles in development since the dawn of time: Hellblade 2 since before acquisition (at worst 2019) , Avoved the same (at worst 2018), Indiana Jones at the bare minimum since end 2020, realistically I’d say after Youngblood (july 2019), Ara is a small game, they can (and will I think) release it as a open beta, being it pc only.

When they showed Avowed last year it wasn’t even in alpha.

I disagree, it was already better than TOW from a polish perspective, anyway, it’s a reported fact that Avowed was the game MS saw and then acquired Obsidian, so it’s at least 6 years. Even if you cut 2 years for COVID (which is way too much), then you have 4.

How can you disagree with a fact ?

They said it was in alpha? Anyway, they said themselves 2024.

They said it wasn’t even in alpha.

Ok, then it’s impossible they can release it, let’s say in may while they already announced 2024? Anyway, that’s something said in a forum, not an official statement from an interview, I don’t think that was from Obsidian directly

All im saying is that it’s more likely that Avowed is coming in the second half of the year. Don’t forget Avowed also had some kind of reboot while in development.

You def need to spread out releases . It would be nice to have hellblade 2 for first half of the year followed by Indy , and then Avowed

I didn’t know that, they scrapped the map, some mode, part of the story?

I mean, they also have Flight Sim 24, Towerborne and COD for the second half, my best scenario would be 8 releases in the year.

Basically change of direction and scale, and then back to the roots ? They had the idea that Avowed had some kind of coop elements, but now it’s out of the window.

Man why is Microsoft forcing studios to make single player games now

That wasn’t Obsidian.

Avowed getting a deep dive is nice, Starfield had its deep dive in June and less than three months it was out. So I guess Avowed COULD be the first to release? We’ll see.

It would be great but I’m ok if it releases at the end of the year.

I was secretly hoping we would have a game in the first trimester, but more and more I prepare myself for Ara and Hellblade in the first semester and the second will be stacked with Avowed, Indiana Jones and Towerborne (maybe something else ?).

It’ll be a massive year for Xbox, but just like 2021, lite in the first half (even if having Hellblade is fantastic !)

Hellblade alone in the first half makes it not light, let alone Ara too. It’s a AAA game. 2021 had nothing at all in the first half, AAA or not.

The game I’m most hyped to see is Avowed. I’m sure Obsidian will shut down all concerns about the game :sunglasses:

Yeah, but MS should have multiple releases every quarter imo. If you look at Sony for example, they have TLOU2 remastered and Helldivers 2 in Q1, and also Ronin and FF7 Rebirth as 3rd party exclusives all stacked. Obviously, it’s very likely they won’t have anything else for months, but it’s an example which shows you the competitors are not sleeping, on the contrary.
