It is one of many moves that will help expand the market.
If you agree with me on that then why are you supporting or defending the idea that Nintendo Switch users would gain any access streaming or not on their console while Xbox users donât get any Nintendo games in any way shape or form in return? Also by defending that idea you are seemingly ok with being able to play Xbox games in anyway shape or form on a PS5 in the future as well. The only reason this isnât more of a big deal is because streaming is still in itâs infancy and not a true viable gaming option right now. Like I said I am not against our games going to other platforms as long as they play ball and send something back the other direction. No I donât forsee Xbox games being playable natively on the switch except due to hardware limitations but maybe Sea of Theieves and Grounded or a couple of others, but by your reasoning since more sales are better why not throw everything you can on PS5 and the switch natively? If game sales and money are all that matter why not just become a true 3rd party and make bank? That seems to be what you and others are implying. Who cares about the console business, Xbox should just become gamepass the nerflix like game business on every platform. You told me that if I was so worried about people playing Xbox games on other consoles maybe I was on the wrong platform. Respectfully I could say if you donât care where you play games as long as you can play them maybe you arenât an Xbox, PS, or Nintendo fan. You sound like a Stadia person. Who knows how much longer they will be around though. I love the Xbox that means the console, the games, the studios, the brand. I want to see Xbox grow not Nintendo or Playstation. I would rather their efforts go to making games everyone wants to buy an Xbox or PC to play and also be able to stream to their phone or tablet on the go. Hence why I said who cares about adding maybe 1 million switch owners to Gamepass and Xcloud on Switch when you could workout a deal to add their games to Gamepass everywhere and gain that 1 million switch only users plus 10 million + more because now they can play Mario, Smash bros, and Zelda on their Xbox, Switch, phone, tablet, and PC. Going forward Nintendo will need that much more to stay competitive than Xbox will need those few Switch users who will keep a steady subscription. We all know there will come a day when consoles are obsolete and everything is on PC or an app on your smart TV. We all know that is coming eventually. I am not arguing you on changes and transitions in the market, they are coming just saying Nintendo and Playstation donât need any help right now. Let them come to Xbox and benefit Xbox. They will not be able to compete in a streaming world anytime soon if at all donât help them unless they give you something in return.
How many are we talking? Thereâs what, 60 million Switches sold? Take away the kids who will not be allowed to play most games on xCloud anyway, the people like me who allready subscribe to XGPU, and the peple with multiple Switch purchases. How many potential new subs is that? 10 m? Itâs nothing.
All it achieves is making a competing platform look better.
Doesnât change the fact that games are the one who move the needle, xCloud on Switch right now, wonât help Xbox, at all.
Will help MS gain more money, which⌠they donât really need, they donât really need the Switch for more money.
10 m is nothing? We got 18 million total across Xbox and PC right now lol. Thatâs almost 2 billion in revenue a year lol.
How big do you think the market is of people that want to carry around controller attachments for their phone?
Making a service that people want to use and keep is important, devices and convenience play a role in that.
Itâs nothing in the grand scheme of 2-3 billion, like I mentioned. When the downside is you are boosting a competitior.
Phil did say they would be open to the idea of having Game Pass on other platforms, but that was the native app, right? This is pure streaming. I think we all have to start accepting that itâs not about Xbox the console anymore, but really all about Game Pass. So if they can have Game Pass on literally anythingâŚthey will. Via Xcloud. With that in mind Sony could get all the games too, unless they refuse Xcloud and have a way to not have Xcloud working in their internet browser.
Iâm not a big fan either, but Iâm sure MS will support consoles for a while to come but it IS the future. If people play via Xcloud on their Switch they will have new people in their ecosystem. These people however wonât buy the Xbox console though.
How many people do you think carry around their phones and a freaking Switch?
Its about both
Again
There are more laptops, tablets, tvâs and phones than Switch or PS5.
Thinking the Switch or these competing platforms is what xbox needs to succeed is absurd.
We canât use 2-3 billion in good faith when netflix has 200 million subscribers.
Yes its obvious by now Iâm arguing with a bot or something.
Tell that to Phil and Satya? And itâs the potential, not the actual users. I doubt 10 million new subs would come out of a Switch.
Oh I agree, for me it absolutely is about the console too, very much so. But in the future, far future hopefully MS wants to do away with physical consoles. Do they really make a big profit with consoles today?
Agree here, but weâre 10 years too soon.
Look, nobody is saying they need the Switch. We are jist saying it would help increase subscriber count.
We donât see eye to eye on how that may or may not negatively impact things. Thatâs okay.
I could see 1st party Xbox GP on Switch. Calling it now.
For damn sure.
Xbox right now should just worry about their own, keep growing Game Pass. Keep release games on Xbox console and PC. Xcloud via mobile and maybe TV and leave the competing consoles for what they are for now. But MS clearly has other plans, and we can only wait and see and accept it. Personally not a big fan of it, because if Nintendo can, so can Sony. Although with the Sony of now they are probably way too proud to allow Xcloud.
Why maybe TV?
