FTC: Ok MS and activision, everything has been settle and you can now proceed with the acquisition.
MS: LETA FUCKING GOOO!!
FTC: But did activision seriously need to buy the entirety of Warner Bross discovery just to support World of Warcraft?? Not to mention. It is still im questiom wherw Activision got the momey t-
MS: Y E S
FTC: Uh? Ok…wait, why is SEGA sitting on the corner?!
On a serious note: Man what is WB doing. I know they said the wantes to cut a lot of expenses but still…
Unless they are able to get DC IP, I see only NRS
Microsoft said that the Activision Blizzard acquisition should be completed in the 2023 fiscal year, which started about 2 days ago, on the first of July, which concludes at the end of June 2023.
They did say that the acquisition was going faster than expected, so I’m curious. When do you think the acquisition will close?

Personally, once the Activision Blizzard acquisition is completed, if I had to choose which large publisher they bought next, I’d probably choose Ubisoft. Partly just so they can help fix their games since some of the stuff they’ve released recently hasn’t been the best it could be. They have also been having problems and issues with game delays and so on, along with staff being mistreated. The support studios they have would definitely help.
Went with October-December 2022, I’m feeling bold.
The CW has been in shambles for a decade or more. In the US that channel still isnt available on most streaming TV services because of contracts or something stupid or worse. This is even for large media footprints like Cleveland.
They do have their own streaming app which has majority of their shows on it, but its not until a day or more later. They also have forced commercials on their VODs. The app is kind of rubbish though, slow and janky and navigation sometimes glitches. They don’t show live TV stream. They don’t show any of their local coverage or media. They don’t show their news either which is typically paired with a different local channel.
It’s a better user experience to watch any The CW show on Netflix when it eventually shows up or on HBOMax.
I’m looking forward to the much needed revamp of The CW channel and its shows.
Anyways, The CW was an anchor around WB. Thats why they let it go for merely assuming it’s debt. I don’t think this shows as a negative sign for the rest of WB but as a positive sign of competency in upper management.
I dont think any of the IP was sold, maybe just the existing leases for IP Licenses were included.
I’m with you on this one, something within me tell me this has high chances of closing this year (at most February next year me thinks)
That and a lot of the dc shows are falling apart. With the actor from the flash having a warrant out. And dc not sure what to do as they already spent 200 million creating the movie with him
Batgirl actor having to be let go etc
Just offloading debt for discovery is the key goal, why I think we may see all of wb studios go for cheap (and taking debt) with exclusive access to the licenses for xx years
?
Yeah, WB is in deep trouble. Yet HBO Max + Discovery is a strong proposition. But DC is failing.
So she said it was due to her being injured. But a lot of people on set and execs are stating it was due to bad behaviour a quote is “ Warner Bros say there were ‘complaints about behaviour’ Ruby Rose has alleged inappropriate behaviour against the producers of The CW drama Batwoman as well as Dougray Scott. Warner Bros Television said the actor was fired from the series over an internal probe.”
For the source
But after she was fired a lot of confusion how to market a new actor
Thats Batwoman from CW , not Batgirl .
ah sorry lol all the same to me that cw dc stuff was tanking around the same time
Yeah I think this too. I think it will be this year.
Fingers crossed the deal finishes this year.
I get the impression Xbox/Phil had other acquisitions in the works then ABK shown up and had to happen putting the others to the side. Now if that’s right hopefully those others can happen.
Well, we certainly knew that they were in talks with Bungie but when ABK arrived, they pulled out.
Do we? I don’t think I’ve read anything that suggested ABK was the reason they didn’t do anything with Bungie.
While we don’t know if ABK deal made them pull out, we can assume that it certainly contributed to that. At least we know that they pulled out from the talks around that time. I don’t believe that COD did not contribute to that.
Also it once again tells us that Microsoft does not want to release multiplatform games.
I would love to know if they were interested in Crystal Dynamics and Eidos or whether that’s something they wouldn’t have jumped on anyway.
Considering that Square West was for the sale since the long time ago and they opted in for a partnership deal rather than acquisition, tells me that they were not really into them.
I still think that people are overvaluing Square Enix West.
