I picture millions of European casuals in 2023 getting mad at the Europe game journalists and their Sony cultists friends that gave them the advice to buy a PS5 but failed to disclose that Xbox now owns every game company they actually cared about.

Casual gamer in 2023 “Hey why didn’t you tell me to buy Xbox when you know my favorite games are Bethesda and Activision?”

Sony cultists “Because Xbox sucks. PlayStation is better. Xbox has no games.”

Casual gamer in 2023 “F you. I’m never listening to your advice again.”

They’re more likely to be Jedi Mind Tricked into loving their choice by more propaganda and misinformation IMO.

PlayStation truisms because the faithful forgets:

  • There are no bad PlayStation Games, just forgotten games.
  • There are no bad PlayStation Marketing, just forgotten marketing.

Not to get into list wars (and off topic too), but all anyone ever has to bring up for Sony marketing duds are the following: Abandoned and Life of Black Tiger.

/discussion.

Sony got literally paid for these blog posts and trailer placements. These absolutely aren’t valid comparisons at all.

Haven’t turned on my PlayStation for months. Just think that people shouldn’t state objectively wrong things as facts.

I feel like Xbox has learned from each of their big acquisitions. Im really hopeful that their Activision/Blizzard teaches them how to really support their IP with studio acquisitions geared to working on their big IP.

So can you name them or not? Abandoned was not even a game, and Life of Black Tiger…I think it got only 1 video on Youtube channel but Sony did not promote it (I think they were paid to post those videos).

One doesnt have to look back far to find Destruction All Stars and Babylons Fall

Babylon’s Fall, yeah it was a dud. But Destruction All Stars was kinda their exclusive game akin Bleeding Edge.

Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy come to mind. Sony might be responsible for those studios being sold due to their underperformance.

Both of these are not of the scale of games we are talking about. Those are more in the Crossfire category.

Someone mentioned Avengers, that’s a valid comparison.

Doesn’t matter either way. It seems like Microsoft wants to do less of these deals. After ABK closes they don’t need that many additional marketing partnerships anymore.

Anyway it’s off-topic.

Ignoring counter-examples that negate your argument and shifting goalposts to fit whatever narrative you’re trying to spin is bad-faith, off-topic, and repeated examples of said means to console/list war is an easy way to take a vacation.

I haven’t moved the goalpost, my initial question hasn’t changed at all. If you can’t find a valid answer ignore it, admit it or discuss it.

There are simply fields where Microsoft is ahead and there are some where Sony is ahead.

Now send me on a “vacation” because I said things you don’t like, not because they are off-topic.

Im curious what other acquisitions may make sense for Activision prior to the Xbox acquisition closing. Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone they are close to or has working on their big titles that could be acquired?

Ok no. Probably minor studios which we will only know of their existence when they get acquired.

Honestly the biggest thing Activision needs is numbers, head of Blizzard Mike Ybarra posted that they have hundreds of positions open in response to the news that Niantic and Unity had suffered layoffs. I think we’re gonna see much the same as we saw with the Spellbound devs - smaller studios without much IP baggage to serve as support teams.

So Activision should buy Ubisoft
