Would it really be as bad, or worse than the ABK process? Microsoft acquiring WBD would be more a software company trying to get into the movie/tv/streaming business. Microsoft/ Xbox currently has really no skin in that game and I would think the few game studios are small enough that in the grand scheme of things would not even be an issue.

Agree. Bigger companies are incentivized to constantly be buying because of the inflation rate and smaller companies are not incentived due to interest rates. Because of that I expect really MS to be the only one buying big in the gaming industry.
This would be a GAFAM acquiring one of the top 5 players in the industry, who knows how regulators would react… This is a big acquisition, in my opinion it would take at least as long as ABK to validate (18 months). I think it can be an interesting acquisition to try in a few years to close the acquisition of publishers.
Before that, I think it is more interesting to acquire (if possible) a publisher like SEGA and/or a Capcom which should take less time to be validated by the regulators and which will be more quickly effective on the gaming part. You also have Paradox and CDPR that are small enough to fly under the radar, and a whole bunch of talented partner studios that would belong in the Xbox family.
There are plenty of opportunities for growth. In any case, with development times that are getting longer and longer, it seems that the next acquisitions will come to prepare the next generation of consoles.

Interesting. It’s time for SEGA to become a reality after all these years. I’m glad to see names like IOI, Supergiant Games, or Thunderful. Hopefully, we’ll see these acquisitions, and more, happen in the months following ABK’s closing.

Hard to tell. The email is 3 years old.
There are probably more on the table. You can be sure that Paradox is one of them. It is interesting to see that small studios like Thunderful or Supergiant Games are targeted. Xbox is targeting a wide range of studios and that’s really good news.
The other thing about Bungie is that they wanted to remain multi-platform. It’s a little less worth it when you’re not going to get any exclusive content from them at all.
Oh man I knew (I mentioned in this thread) this case would open the records and we’d see this stuff.
I just didn’t know it would hurt this much to know what could have been. Sega & IOI would be great.
