Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

I wouldn’t say trash is fair…

Also like I say there isn’t many gaming companies which will give you this much legacy and number of IP’s for this little money…

When you have hundreds of IP’s they aren’t all going to be great, but retro gaming would be another avenue for Xbox.

Your right, garbage wasn’t the right word, I should have worded it differently.

Most of Atari’s games, just aren’t relevant for today, but I absolutely agree MS could do something great with them and reinvent the old IPs, by giving them a fresh spin on the classics.

So I absolutely agree that MS should look at buying them.

I just don’t understand why you guys would want them. Like is anybody here really going to download and play 8-bit centipede?

Nope, lol. Atari is bottom tier of acquisitions, can’t even justify it with business decision like I could a mobile focused acquisition.

Profit and growth are more important to a companies valuation than revenue. Ubisoft and Nexon have the same revenue but the reason Nexon is worth 10x the Ubisoft marketcap is simply because they make 10x their profit.

We had a ton of remasters last gen so we should have a ton of remakes this gen. With what Capcom has done with their RE remakes a lot of old games could come out looking unbelievable. A new Shinobi and new Ninja Gaiden black will be awesome. Also give me SEGA’s old games as remakes along with Bungie’s Halo remakes.

You raise a interesting point - most Atari games are perfect for mobile platforms!

They still own some fantastic IP which with the right teams could be awesome. Its also the amount of IP you are getting.

Probably won’t be any until 2024, but let’s hope it’s a big one!

Haven’t posted in here in ages. Once the ABK deal is done this thread will start popping off again

It never left… just too many pundits who’ve never dealt with international acquisitions poisoning the well.

As Goldberg would say:

Who’s next!

Kind of crazy to look at that list and consider nearly everything below Nintendo might be fair game to get acquired/merged over the next few years. Not by MS necessarily, or even another company already in gaming.

We know Ubisoft is open to it. I think EA said they are open to it? It feels like the writing is on the wall for SE.

Sega doesn’t feel imminent, but it does seem inevitable it will get acquired or merged into another company within the next 5-10 years.

Anyone checked other era, I assume it’s a cesspit atm lol.

Paradox could be interesting, but what exactly would they provide that no other company would have?

I don’t know a lot of developers that do Grand Strategy. There is a plethora of Real time strategy and 4x strategy developers. But Grand strategy at a AAA level only really seems to be at Paradox. However at the same time I’m sure that if MS really tried they could find a developer to make those games.

OtherERA is exactly how you think it would be. Mostly good vibes in Idas thread, All good vibes in the Xbox OT and…not as much good vibes in the PS OT.

They make the kind of games that keep people playing essentially the same game for years, through 'dlc/updates. Crusader Kings 2 chugged along for seven years that is an eternity. Plus they are adept at making grand stratergy games. They have branched out with different genres/studios (Surviving the, Age of Wonders/ Shadowrun/Battletech etc.)

Plus there is a certain amount of loyalty that gamers have with Paradox.
