Asia is where I think they should be in next, and I agree SEGA would be the best option if they can get it. I would though add Blueside as Microsoft worked extensively with them from Xbox to 360 days. :: BLUESIDE ::
Idk about adding Blueside right away. I think working with them through XGS publishing first would be better. I’m all for a KUF:Crusaders remake
Nah we need the sequel. Just remaster the old games.
Well we kind of got the sequel in an mmo that nobody wanted.
They made other games like 99 nights N3, Circle of Doom. Also when they were still part of Phantagram they had those 2 cancelled games that were ahead of the times. Strident the Shadow Front (A Battle Angel Alita kind of game) (14) Strident: The Shadow Front trailer - YouTube and DUALITY a Metal gear like game (14) Duality trailer (canceled game) - YouTube The publisher could use the help .
That was 20 years ago
Ill say this and say it again. Dont care what anyone says.
someone made this image for me a bit back. Although I’d likely replace Vampire with ‘Surviving the Aftermath/Mars’
At this point, Paradox games sort of feel like a ‘subscription’ service. Look at how long Crusader Kings 2 kept chugging along with updates/dlcs. Seven Years. Stellaris likely has a few years left. EUIV and HOI are chugging along. These kinds of games feel like slam dunks for a game pass like service.
Paradox makes sense for pc gamepass growth.
The World of Darkness license is one of the strengths of Paradox. It would be great if Obsidian could develop games in this universe.
I don’t know what Microsoft’s intentions are regarding the PC market, but they can clearly dominate it by buying SEGA and Paradox, which are also long-time partners. There is clearly an interesting strategy to exploit, but I have no idea if Microsoft will or not.
I would also like to add CDPR to the family. It’s clearly a studio that would bring millions of gamers to Xbox. This is the kind of studio that Microsoft needs.
I said similar a while back, Paradox games both have major expansions and small add-ons/cosmetics - they could be a great source of regular gamepass content if the expansions were part of the service and they kept releasing the smaller content as paid dlc.
Oh man…Just thinking of an Obsidian game set in WoD. Would be fantastic.
And would also give Obsidian to make a PoE 3 or Tryanny 2
Obsidian has the PoE (Avowed) IP, but no idea for Tyranny. I hope they will continue to develop these types of games. The GP allows this sort of thing.
I think a good move would be buying studios that could produce games in a 3-4 year period. Maybe platformers and smaller quality titles.
the clue when it comes to acquisitions for me when they acquire a studio is one with strong leadership and culture but are financially strapped for cash that is what i have noticed
After ABK they should go for Asobo, IOI, Platinum and Certain Affinity.
Add on eidos and crystal dynamics from embracer.
I don’t understand why they didn’t buy them? Is it because of ABK deal or something else? Tomb Raider could be a big franchise for Xbox.
I think abk put a hold on everything
It certainly did.
I doubt that seems to me something always arises; I won’t be surprised if suddenly another publisher just comes along probably in Asia wanting to sell. It might be best to sign 10-year contracts with these developers though to have a chance to acquire them later on. Though I’d prefer studios like Asobo, and Crytek that have an engine to offer other than just name. Would really love to see the Cry engine developed further to match Unreal.
