Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

Maybe they should have just got Ubisoft.

Conker.

Great post I agree with most of your opinions here, but honestly hope Microsoft goes after WB they have more than enough money for the content creation albatross that is the streaming service monster and HBO is the best of the best right now when it comes to producing hits. From my prospective it seems the streaming services are all looking into adding gaming in some capacity.Xbox has the gaming part down just need the TV and Movie part now. I too hope after ABK they start going after individual studios, but my hope is for more eastern studios that could be added to Sega at a later date my picks would be Platinum, Game Science, Digital Sky, Shift Up, Rabbit and Bear, Mistwalker and Cyberconnect other studios to consider would be certain affinity, Double Eleven,Crytek,Asobo,IOI. Lots of individual studios to consider with far less acquisition scrutiny let’s hope they go this route for a little while as I know everyone is exhausted with all the publisher drama from the last year. Lastly I hope they either purchase a remaster studio or reverse the Vicarious Visions decision to focus on some remasters like Blue Dragon, lost Odyssey, Crimson Skys,Banjo,Conker and many other IP they have just been sitting on.

You and I think a lot alike. WBD, Platinum a Japanese Publisher most likely SEGA, Rabbit and Bear, Double Eleven as a good support studio that can build their own IP, IOI and Certain Affinity. I have a feeling 90% of these 3rd party Studios working on an Exclusive for Xbox will be under the Xbox umbrella in the next 5 to 8 years.

I wish they could get Asobe, not sure if Asobo want to be acquired right now, but flash some $$$ and they may change their mind. They wouldn’t get the Plagues Tale IP, but give them a choice of any dormant Xbox IP they want or let them build a new world their 3rd person games are extremely good and I would hope they stick to that style.

As far as Remaster or remakes I would think it would be easier to shop those out to some publishers or studios let them work on a few. find a good studio that has success at it and sign a deal for 3 or 4 game remasters or remakes. A Studio remaking some old classics I feel would have to be very trustworthy to take on some of those projects. Once you tryout a few studios they should be able to find someone that is up to the task and acquire down the road.

No idea if this is true. I did see a report that 82% of disc console sales where on PS5, of course that’s in a specific location not WW, the location you ask… the UK obviously.

CMA get it together.

dont quote him man that guy just talk shit with no evidence

He has had so many wrong rumors in the past that I just decided to ignore him.

so many lol all of his rumours were wrong i dont understand how this guy get attention by any means

Confirmation bias. He tells a subset of people things they want to hear and reaps attention for it.

yeah i remember guy named foxy who did the same thing

Thanks for the info everyone. I’ll ignore him from now on. Also I don’t follow him it just popped up from someonelse I follow :+1:

This guy is the biggest fake ‘insider’ out there, I don’t think anything he’s ever said has come true. I honestly don’t understand why anyone still listens to him.

EDIT: sorry just seen your latest post.

I still think abk was a mistake, and they should of got a bunch of smaller studios and publishers

Let’s be honest, no studio or publisher would ever be good enough unless they were “organically” merged into XGS. Anything Xbox does, it always “NOT LIKE THAT!”

Microsoft may as well keep doing what their doing as no matter what they do, people will always have something to say. Roll on the ABK deal, I say. When they acquire this one, go get a few more!

Hard to know that regulators would break ethical and moral codes just to deter a perfectly legal acquisition.

Yes it is clear that Microsoft has the financial means to acquire Warner and to invest in this type of content. I just feel that Warner would be a bit more risky and complicated to manage for Microsoft than for Amazon which already has some experience in this area. I have no idea Microsoft’s interest in this type of industry but if they want to get into it then yes Warner is an amazing opportunity to do so and I’ll still be very happy for it to happen .

Regarding Western studios, I will mainly focus on large studios with a strong IP, and also on partner studios. There are many candidates who could be very interesting for Xbox: IOI, Techland, Remedy, Crytek, Asobo, Certain Affinity, Int./Night, Stoic, People Can Fly, Oxide Games, Double Eleven, Iron Galaxy, CD Projekt, Super Giant Games, Blackbird, Frictional Games, Larian Games, Dontnod, Squanch Games, GSC Game World, Avalanche Studios (not independent), Crystal Dynamics (not independent), Eidos (not independent)… Suffice to say that Microsoft has the embarassed with the choice to continue to develop massively in the West without going through the acquisition of a publisher. This is also a point that leads me to think that the next publisher will necessarily be in Asia. Either way, I’m looking forward to learning about the after ABK and discussing it with all of you. This is all going to be very exciting.

I’m not talking about pony’s or the media. It’s more that the regulators might let them through

This deal isn’t over yet. One way or another a precedent will be set. If the deal is blocked, then that effectively stops Amazon, Google, Apple. etc. from doing the same. If it goes through with access remedies, it gives Microsoft the game plan to take going forward.

If access remedies for console and cloud is all it takes, why not go after EA and apply the same remedies? The CMA is already stating that Game Pass isn’t it’s own market, which is a win for Microsoft. Therefore, buy EA, state that all titles will remain multiplat and put everything Day 1 on Game Pass.

While I personally would have liked Microsoft to get smaller studios and publishers I do think ABK will offer the most value to Microsoft. And even though I could care less about COD it’s Blizzard, Toys For Bob, and all the other different IP you get from the deal that alone make it worth it

From a selfish pint of view, I agree. They could have acquired about 20 smaller studios in the time taken to get here, without a peep from regulators. But MS are making a play for mobile and PC, where I rarely game.
