It’s a tax reduction for when corporations acquire start up companies.
Reasoning: Increase Entrepreneurship so founders have a more solid exit strategy
This “could” potentially help MS if they plan on acquiring rumored partners like JP games

Embracer isn’t stopping soon and more proof neither will Microsoft.
Cannot wait for more acquisitions. Embracer always surprises us.
I wonder if we will get more acquisitions closer to the end of the year.
Was about to say fatshark is a studio Xbox should acquire but then i looked it up. Ten cent has majority shares😨
Next Take Two acquisition confirmed Phil is trying to hide it
Wow, I doubt it as it would be huge. Plus he has other stuff in the background that is just gear sent from industry friends, switch & a sword from From Software.
I do see the Xbox Cloud streaming console on the top shelf though. (In his other tweet)
If anything, that Kojima statue shows Xbox is listening.
It really seems to be something he’s hiding
Id think remedy because i see allen wake on the shelf
I don’t expect Microsoft to acquire any big western publisher anymore. With ABK their position on the west is a strong as hell. The funny thing is that nobody expected ABK to be on sale, so for Microsoft it was a golden opportunity.
Everyone expects Sony to buy Square Enix, but more than likely, Microsoft is going to buy them because of Project Flare. Square Enix is heavily invested in cloud gaming and technology. Microsoft is looking for companies that perfectly align with the cloud. I think all those games going to Sony and Nintendo is about getting everyone off the suspicion of them being bought by Microsoft. Final Fantasy 7 remake is a trilogy, so it’s not a big deal to bring it to Xbox when you can third one with all the rest together
Welcome to the forums
Thank you
Take Two would be huge and then Microsoft can staff them up, particularly R*. Then we can get a new LA Noir, but this time a Chicago or Detroit Noir and new Bully game.
Then MS can get CD Projekt and put them under Take Two, so they can could work with R* on a game.
I’m sure people were joking about that being a tease for aq but it does seem like every piece of scrutiny MS is currently facing for ABK would just get so much worse if they successfully acquired ABK and then also went on to grab Take Two as well.
I think they’ll be looking much smaller than Take Two.
Rockstar already has 3000+ employees all over the world, the live service on GTA Online plus development on Red Dead 2 and later GTA6 really took up a lot of staff. It’s a very hungry hippo.
I maintain my stance that they won’t acquire other big western publisher because honestly there is no reason to as all others are just not attractive after ABK.
I would like to see it just to see the internet Burn and otherera melt down tbh
Not to mention the increased scrutiny they’ll likely have after the ABK deal goes through, I think they are done in the west for now when it comes to publishers at least, most we will get is devs they are currently working with like IOI or a bunch of the support studios that are already helping them
Another big purchase in the west would just feel like overkill, at least in the next couple of years and from Phils own words it seems he agrees
They are much better looking in places where they aren’t as strong
I was actually thinking about this and MS acquiring Square makes more sense than Sony despite all the deals that have been happening
Between the library, expansion into asian markets, gamepass output and more, id totally understand why MS would be after it
I do want to add that MS does indeed think of Square Enix as a very important partner for their Japanese efforts.
On this Game Pass ad in Japan, Square Enix has the most real estate in it (even though Nier Automata isn’t in GP anymore… They should really update that, huh?), besides Microsoft themselves.
Agreed, especially after Phil Spencer mentioned the importance of diversity of content - or something to that effect. I expect if they pick up another publisher it will be about covering their “weakspots” in terms of content - and a Japanese publisher is the best bet for that.
