Xbox Acquisition |OT6| If this is about competition, let us have competition

That person dismisses a lot of things while making bold statements and proclamations about what’s going to happen. Also, I don’t really like anime all that much but those Naruto games were legit!

Yeah i really liked those games and what is really baffling, that they were developed by Ubisoft.

Xbox 360 was relatively successful at Japan though. Xbox 360 at launch was literally “the console”, like “if you didn’t own Xbox 360 - you didn’t play games”

Also Kinect was the best selling device in the era of Wii too.

True, but who says that the Series Consoles can‘t be as or even be more successful than the 360?

I think a exclusive anime game would help certainly a bit to achieve that.

They can potentially reach Xbox 360 level by the end of the gen (granted there is Game Pass also there so it changes the calculation) especially looking at the charts.

The main problem is shortages. It helps and does not help Xbox at the same time. Helps because Xbox sells even without the exclusive games, does not help because it slows down Xbox growth

I see @Knottian is lurking around here and i would be really interested in your opinion on a potential Bandai Namco acquisition.

I know that you are a fellow SEGA stan and that you are also very keen on Capcom, but i don‘t know your opinion on Bandai Namco.

Do you like the Tales of Games, Scarlet Nexus, Tekken or Soul Calibur?

I mean, it does. If a company is publicly traded they are legally obligated to maximise shareholder wealth (like T2 even briefly mentioned this when saying they wanted to remain independent “we like being an independent organization. But we’re here for the shareholders.”) granted if a company isn’t looking to sell the premium will be higher

when did WB say they want to sell of their gaming branch or even said they were open to it, I am pretty sure its just been a rumour. Also following this logic feels flawed since MS hasn’t went for the obvious pick once yet, like I don’t remember ABK showing any sign of wanting to sell but it happened.

I agree (unless we count Nintendo). Capcom has a lot of veriety and major franchises which would bring a lot of traction to Xbox/Game pass with even some room to expand (like an MMO monster hunter makes a lot of sense). Personally if I had to rank the potential buys from Japan from best to worst I would go

Nintendo > Capcom > SEGA > Square Enix Bandai Namco = Konami > Koei Tecmo > Sony

I actually disagree. SE looking to sell stakes in their studio’s screams not looking to be acquired to me, why would they want less control of themselves if they were looking to sell (hell them selling the western branch made it iffy from the start for me but you could justify it)

I am actually curious how that story with SE will end.

I think they will eventually be bought but when and by who no clue. I was originally in the camp that believed SE would be bought by Sony pretty soon but them selling stakes in their studio’s threw a wrench in that for me

Monster Hunter isn’t GaaS but yes Street Fighter certainly is

Konami is literally the best selling third party console publisher in Japan this year, and are in the top 3 best selling publishers in Japan in 2021, and 2020, and still run some of the most popular arcade games there like Bombergirl. They still make a lot of revenue from games and have found big success in essentially focusing on the Japanese market. Not saying MS should acquire them though.

If elden ring does well on xcloud, I could see ms being a bit interested on fromsoftware

I know this is nothing but having the creators of the souls game would be great https://mobile.twitter.com/VGC_News/status/1557115671154245632

Where do you find this stuff cos I know konami still has stuff in gaming but I struggle to sources for it since most of it is exclusive in Japan (or at least I believe it is).

That would be great in addition to Bandai Namco.

From is a part of Kadokawa and in the last earnings Kadokawa wanted to dive deeper into gaming (with more anime offerings).

I am still surprised how after all this years they havent buy fromsoft, they are the perfect match

Then poach Miyazaki and some other key talent from From Soft and build a new Studio.

They also sold the metal max ip some weeks ago, I know it means nothing but still we dont know what can happen in the future

A lot of people here are hoping to see avalanche on xbox and in my opinion I dont see nordisk selling them but you never know, they can always surprise us

Well they are owned by KADOKAWA meaning it is 100% up to them and honestly at this point after the monsters success of elden ring I don’t see anyway of getting them which doesn’t involve buying KADOKAWA

Well, the whole acquisition of kadokawa could interest namco, anime, videogames, etc

I mean, its possible but honestly think sony is more likely to grab KADOKAWA but its all speculative. But it tells us odds of MS getting fromsoft is really low
