Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

I mean after Xbox buying Activision I dont think this shit matters too much anymore when buying studios lol.

True lol, but I wonder what the price would be to buy the studio and then ship him and his wife (head of HR) out of there.

Someone needs to bring this question to Hoeg and ask how something like this would get done.

Anything else at this point Just Cause, Prototype or something completely new. I don’t think people remember the embarrassing launch of CD3.

Didn’t Phil even come out to say, that it was a disaster and that people deserve better?

It would even make more sense to buy the Anthem IP, because of it’s in comparison completely spotless reputation :phil_lmao:

I mean, he’s already answered this; smaller acquisitions shouldn’t create any issues with the current review (which is also absolutely normal as I mentioned last night - he also confirmed today).

Edit: mistook what you meant and realized you meant specifically about pulling Avalanche away from Nordisk, that’s what I get for juggling.

No I mean how they convince Nordisk to sell the company, especially if it becomes very successful with Contraband, with the exception of an exorbitant price

Yep, I’m hoping this doesn’t bite me in the ass, but all the analyses I’ve done over the past two weeks about publishers likely/unlikely to sell EA is definitely high on the latter list.

Idk, Blizzard is a pretty big win for the South Korean market.

Yeah I reread your post and threw an edit in on mine after realizing

Blizzard absolutely is huge for markets outside of NA, as is King (no matter how much some are ready to dismiss it).

In addition to having a pretty sizable market cap, seems like EA is not going to be sold anytime soon.

Yep! I just remember all the news stories around StarCraft and South Korean pro gamers. Insane. Glad they eventually did restrictions for tournaments.

The publisher market basically looks like this:

  • EA (Buyer)
  • TakeTwo (Buyer)
  • Embracer Group (Buyer)
  • Ubisoft (largely family owned)
  • Capcom (largely family owned)
  • Square Enix (largely family owned)
  • Sega (idk)
  • Bandai Namco (idk)
  • Konami (lol)
  • WBIE (WBD)

Did I miss anyone?

Not within the next two years for EA beyond that, I think they get acquired.

True, they are still situated in NA though.

If you have the time, I would like to see what that list looks like lol.

I would have Ubisoft as pretty unlikely to be sold after EA. In fact, a merger between these two could be interesting.

From these, I believe Sega and Square are most probable.

I could really see Yves and his family cash out.

I don’t know how the situation with SE is tbh. Is the family involved in the daily business?

Just said they arent looking to that and this is with Battlefield becoming irrelevant for them which is insane.

Apex, FIFA and Madden are absolutely gigantic money makers that keep em over.
