Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

But it’s $6-$7 billion that makes the Bungie deal look like a steal in comparison. For that amount Microsoft could have gotten: Bungie, Techland and Netherrealm.

If Phil thought Bungie isn’t worth $2-$4 billion, there is no chance in hell he thinks that CDPR is good value for that amount of money.

I would be interested if sony would be able to even acquire From software. As they are owned by Kadokawa. Sony who owns Funimation and Crunchyroll already was very closely looked at after the Crunchyroll acquisition by the FTC/DOJ. I’m wondering if they could as easily buy Kadokowa as they pretty much own digital distribution of anime in the streaming sense in America. So any consolidation of studios would be looked at. There are far fewer anime studios than game companies.

if Kadokowa was interested in selling From I’m sure Microsoft, ea, take two, etc would also be interested not just sony.

Part of cdpr’s value is gog. In theory, you could acquire them without gog or you could sell gog. As its doubtful Microsoft or Sony want the kind of smoke that removing major storefronts brings.

Pretty much and Destiny/Bungie brings in recurring revenue in a way CDPR does not.

I think Microsoft would have buy Bungie but I don’t think they want another Mojang as that one is already doing massive work in generating dollars. I think they want to be more aggressive.

Bungie doesnt move the MAU or revenue Minecraft does to demand the autonomy they wanted from Microsoft/Xbox.

Not a good barometer. They have like 10 of the best first person shooter studios in the industry after the Activision purchase.

They have like 6 rpg studios and could use another premium tier RPG studio.

Keep in mind that Bungie was reportedly insistent on staying on all platforms, that impacts their value to Xbox and Phil’s answer to what they were worth.

Studio names dont make games. This sounds like the equivalent of Bioware magic.

This isn’t true for how Xbox looks at recurring revenue. Gamepass subscriptions are recurring revenue, so the number of people a game brings to your ecosystem is part of the recurring revenue stream.

If Bungie would not do exclusivity or if Phil didn’t think it would bring people into Xbox that they didn’t already have them that impacts how they are valued.

And so is people buying stuff on f2p Halo Infinite. Idk what game pass sub, a form of recurring revenue, only have to do with this.

You have some of the most talented people in the industry and a name that attracts the best in the region. They would be worth it

The question Is Javy, do you think they will crash again? Because I don’t, that was a once in a lifetime catastrophic failure. I doubt they will repeat the same mistakes

I dont know but either way too expensive for no IP’s, GoG and a slow turnaround.

Just marketing deal them.

What about Techland? Id reckon just as successful and not worth a kidney + they own Dying Light.

However I doubt MS buy them. They are as always focused only on the NA market, as they always are.

Like 7 OT’s sunmed up here.

Haven’t there been reports of a mass exodus? They are by far not the only big developer in Poland. But them and Techland are often mentioned as the ones with the worst working conditions.

:unamused:

Bro what is it with people and this game series that has never been great lol. Id rather have an exclusive JC. Some franchises arent good and its just better to let em fade away.

Other than that Avalanche has a nice set of studios.

This is what you would call an Ego-maniac who hasn’t gotten off his high horse. Why did Dying Light 2 take so long? All fingers from various employees point to him
