You think Phil made any calls today to keep courting studios he favors and that he is slightly concerned of losing to PS? I wonder if he looks back on passing on Destiny, enabling Bungie to work with PS all those years ago, and seeing what manifested all these years later.
I don’t doubt there was a bidding war with PS and he can’t win them all. However, I hope it lights a fire under him and his team to keep his favorite studio partners close and happy, bringing them into the fold as a first-party studio as soon as he is able.
I bet Phil is PISSED ! Destiny 2 is his most played and favorite game !

I do wonder what Phil is thinking rn. Because we know him and Pete Parsons actually play Destiny together. It’s gonna be a long, awkward night for both of them when they go raiding
I’ve got a feeling Phil already knew, especially when he already turned down an offer a couple years back. Given Bungie’s stance on platform agnosticism, I’d wager Phil’s feeling just fine.

Huge deal for Sony and they said they will be doing more acquisitions. This puts Sony further ahead of MS in revenue so why not try for another smaller publisher or more studios.
I just have a feeling Sony will try to grab a Japanese publisher next.
I imagine Phil will congratulate him and the team and the two will have a good time. Phil is who he is.

I’m kind of hoping Grubb’s “It Takes Two to Tango” tweet means MS is about to acquire or has acquired two Japanese studios to work alongside Tango. It probably doesn’t mean that or anything else meaningful lol

Not sure Grubb knows anything, im thinking its hazelight if he does
MS does want more japanese games on it’s service, more than what money hats can bring so I expect them to make some acquisitions in that domain.
If xbox want more FPS games (Crysis 4) and Service game title (Hunt showdown) then Crytek is the answer plus they will get Cryengine

In terms of more ‘studio’ acquisitions from Microsoft, the ones I feel safe about are Asobo, IOI, and Avalanche for now.
I hope MS get Certain Affinity and SE’s western division (Crystal Dynamics & Eidos) sooner than later.
So just keep stacking reasons to let the ActiBlizz deal gone through and made all of their future projects (even COD) exclusive? Awesome! hope they keep acquiring things like this that absolutely has no impact on microsoft’s ecosystem. Also if anything, this deal confirms that SONY will keep expanding in everything but japan…
