Hmm I’m wondering how it works when TakeTwo are acquiring someone else?
Is it possible to acquire TakeTwo while they are in the middle of their own M&A?
E.g. If Microsoft wanted to buy TakeTwo now would they also have to buy Zynga at the agreed $12.7 Billion.
It would be a great time to get them before Zynga bloats their market cap (once the M&A is complete).
I don’t think the market cap will affect Microsoft that much. They literally has now around 100b in pure cash. They had around 130b before ABK and since then they earned almost 40b.
I don’t know if this got posted earlier but there was an article updating on the work culture issues at Travellers Tales earlier, I’m getting the distinct vibe that all of these WB Studios would be better off under new management. An interesting note is that there has been a push internally to work on games other than Lego, with various projects pitched as recently as 2016, as well as some effort towards a project with Funko.
Which makes me think they’ll be fine if they end up at Microsoft and lose the Lego license, not only do they have their own project ideas and interest in making them (at least, have in the past - whether or not the people associated with these pitches are still there would complicate this) and there was interest internally on working on projects SIMILAR to Lego games (I’d guess Funko would be functionally similar to Lego, which gives potentially in them making Minecraft games).
Either way, I just hope they end up somewhere that overhauls management.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft attempts to purchase Roblox now that it’s stock is at an all time low and it’s negative future outlook following the pandemic highs. Basically another Minecraft situation.
I really hope they never ever buy roblox. There is enough bad press out there of exploiting creators,
Besides if the plan is to keep bolstering gamepass I don’t see them jumping on roblox
It is a behemoth of a title, for example most school kids here in the UK play it, however the controller support on Xbox IMO is dreadful. My daughter prefers to play it on phone/PC.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Xbox wanted it, but would it sell GP subscriptions? No, unlikely.
Xbox should instead do a deal with Roblox and release a Roblox branded Series S bundle with 1,700 Robux.
That would sell like hotcakes, especially around Christmas.
I still think Xbox are going to go after another big publisher with pay to play games to sell GamePass subscriptions. I mean TakeTwo and Roblox are currently around the same market cap and I know which acquisition would sell more subscriptions!
I’m not sure if Roblox will have the legs to continue either.
The great thing about it is the content is endless and it’s constantly changing but the graphics are pretty awful .
Unless there is a big overhaul at some point I can just see it going ‘out of fashion’ with kids.
While Roblox isn’t something I’d necessarily want Xbox to grab, I can see the appeal.
I think it’d make more sense to wait and see if the price drops further though. Especially when there are other options out there now (and who knows once the ABK deals closes).
