I had a bit of a different idea. We know anything over 95 million will draw the FTC’s attention so what if Xbox offered 90 million for each of the studios and the MK IP. Then they made up the difference in price from the rest of the bidders that wanted those studios with a gampass deal for all of the older game titles for a select amount of time. This would allow them to basically buy the entire publisher but do it piecemeal in a way that doesn’t draw a lot of attention. This option would also allow them them to not have to say publicly what they paid as gampass deals are not shared. Could be a way to do things quietly, but might also be illegal?

A roblox acquisition doesnt sound particularly exciting nor do I see how it helps xbox make more games.

Even if they did acquire roblox, they could still do more acquisitions lol.
Not a studio but Games Workshop owns the Warhammer IP and that has a massive ready made fanbase. The WH licenced games have been getting better again recently but as a fan i’d like to see what could be done with their IP with a very large studio/publisher like MS pouring resources into WH games. I think the company will propably be acquired at some point by one of the giants like Amazon,MS,Disney.
Embracer probably makes more sense. They already own Asmodee so they have the tabletop and video games side already covered.

Games Workshop would be a very interesting acquisition for sure, but I don’t think Xbox would want to take on the tabletop side of the business. It’s not really in their wheelhouse and would be a risk.
What’s more likely is they continue to invest in getting quality Warhammer games (Vermintide, Darktide, Total War: Warhammer 3) on Game Pass. Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters just launched and got great reviews, so I hope that when/if it comes to consoles, Xbox pays to get it on Game Pass. Space Marine 2 would also be a huge get for Game Pass if they could swing it.

Yes I’m aware of the estimated worth of MK and netherealm, perhaps I did not explain the idea well enough. Anything over 95 million has to be approved by the FTC so to avoid that, offer 90 million for netherealm. 90 million for the MK IP and do a deal for all WB games older titles for 620 million for a gamepass deal that way you could bypass the FTC altogether. 3 separate deals 2 as acquisition and 1 as a gampass deal. They could do this for all the studios and not draw any FTC attention, I just don’t know if that would be legal

I don’t think FTC is a concern here. There is no public discourse against gaming acquisitions so FTC won’t score any points trying to win over the public if they were to take a hard stance against ABK. People are more likely to side with Microsoft rather than FTC regarding ABK acquisition. Imagine a headline that “FTC is forcing people to pay 70$ for the games”.
Roblox wouldn’t be a bad acquisition since it has a wide variety of games to choose from and it’s a simple platform for game development.

Even in general it is a not good acquisition. The whole business model of Roblox is something that is incompatible with what Microsoft is trying to achieve.
By itself Roblox is essentially a separate business running inside video game industry. It is basically Dreams with child exploitation and IPO running it.
