Point taken.
So, if Xbox wants to show everyone that no one is safe from acquisition, including outside of state, acquiring Sega or any Japanese publisher will be a way to go.

It is hard to say who Microsoft is targeting next but if I had to guess, a Japanese publisher or Ubisoft feel the most likely
Same for me.
It would be cool but I think another company will acquire Ubisoft before Microsoft will.
I think amazon will, since microsoft announced their acquisition of bethesda I had a gut feeling that they would end up together
Hope so.
True Amazon is up there and I’m sure Sony, Nintendo, Tencent, and even Netflix could be in the mix as well.
Nintendo we can write off since they take ages to even buy their 2nd party developers and both sony and netflix feel unlikely, tencent is possible though
And who’s gonna make them though? That’s one of the things that I always question as there are a lot of old IPs won’t ever return as to bring them back you have to find a team that is interested in reviving it first. And ideally it should be in-house as second or third party might be acquired by someone else.
I mean Tim Schafer left a tweet after ATVI deal, that. they are not the cover band. I am pretty sure a lot of developers also share that mentality.
the fans, acquire them

Sony is not going to buy Ubisoft in my opinion to many devs for them to have to pay. I also don’t want amazon to get them they have not proven that they are all in on gaming and I would like someone to take great care of Ubisofts amazing IP.
There are not many options for Ubisoft to be acquired. I do not see Sony doing that so the remaining ones are either Microsoft or Amazon or Tencent or EA. EA might do Zynga trick and merge with Ubisoft.
I disagree you could never write off Nintendo since you could never predict what they will do and they do have money to acquire a company or publisher if they wanted to.
Sony and Netflix are also likely as well since Sony seems to be hinting plans on wanting to acquire a large publisher or studio and Ubisoft could fit that criteria as well as a way to boost PlayStation Plus. And Netflix is looking to get into gaming and they are also making an Assassins Creed tv series(Live-Action Assassin’s Creed Series Coming to Netflix) so that would be a huge boost having both the games and expanding the media.
And the only scenario I don’t want is Tencent acquiring Ubisoft.
I don’t think that would be a reason Sony wouldn’t want to acquire Ubisoft because if they have the opportunity I’m sure they would take it. They just bought Bungie which has over 1,200 developers with plans for more acquisitions in the future(Jim Ryan confirms Sony ‘has more studio acquisitions planned’ | VGC). And true I wouldn’t want Amazon but I feel like Amazon would be a better choice than Tencent.
Also I agree I would want someone to take care of Ubisoft’s IP and get them back on the right track but I don’t think it will be Microsoft since it will be a while before the Activision/Blizzard deal is complete.

I could be wrong but I don’t see an EA merger either, granted I didn’t see Zynga either. I could see facebook or apple too, I would say google if they didn’t run away from gaming after like a week
That would be interesting if EA and Ubisoft merge.
I believe I said this before but IF Nintendo gets a publisher, it’ll be Koei Tecmo. Nintendo and Koei are super buddy buddy since the Switch launched, Koei did Warriors games based on Nintendo IPs, developed Fire Emblem Three Houses, developed Nintendo published exclusives like the unlocalized Buddy Mission Bond and Touken Ranbu Warriors, and apparently Gust is working on the visuals of the next Fire Emblem. Best target for Nintendo to grab in the extremely unlikely chance they feel the need to grab a publisher.
Agreed on Tencent, please no and while I agree with you on Sony wanting to expand Ubisoft has 18000 employee’s Sony runs a very tight ship and that’s a lot of employees to have to pay, Microsoft I think may even be a little gun-shy on the purchase because that’s a lot of people to have to take care of.
Sony indicated that they are not into Day 1 releases for their subscription services. Ubisoft literally does that with Ubisoft+. If Sony acquires Ubisoft - what they are gonna do? Keep Ubisoft+? Merge it with PS+ tiers? Stop releasing games Day 1 in new subscription?
Netflix has no money to finance such acquisition. At best they can merge but it would be a weird entity in the end.
Ubisoft is literally 20k developers
