Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

Seems to me both Crytek and Platinum are just sitting there waiting to be acquired and they both can deliver 3rd person games. Granted in very different genres. I can’t imagine they would be all that pricey either granted locations are a little tricky.

Absolutely I was just mentioning studios but Ubisoft or WB as a publisher would definitely fill those gaps too (from a action/adventure stance not necessarily narrative)!

I can’t wait to see what Rocksteady (WB) do with SS and GK, it’s been way too long since we have heard from them.

I dont think that platinum will cost a ton, but for me they are a good option and could deliver games faster than the other studios

With crytek I am not really sure, they have not made any other game besides hunt showdown so I dont know of what they are capable to do, and sure having the cryengine will be amazing but whats the point if only them are going to use it

after the recent live service game, they probably really cheap NGL and if the next bayonetta flops I honestly think its either they will be acquired or die if I had to be honest

I would be so excited to see what the likes of rocksteady, avalanche and monolith could produce under XGS as far as brand new IP with their unique styles of fighting systems. To me WB vastly mismanaged the studios. They have fantastic studios and devs.

But if they end being acquired, do you see ms being the one to geth them?

I think its mainly between 3. Microsoft, Tencent and Netease. Those are the 3 I could see picking them up, I think Microsoft is most likely but Tencent isn’t far behind at all

If Microsoft is trying/planning to buy Square Enix, SEGA or maybe even Konami’s gaming IPs they should though in my opinion. SEGA owns multiple series platinum makes such as Bayonetta, Madworld, Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns & Infinite Space and obviously Platinum made Nier: Automata and trash for Square and metal gear: rising for Konami

Considering myself one of those “Xbox users”, A few more games in that realm would be nice but that’s not exactly what I’m referring to when it comes to more third person games. I think that’s why people always assume we want to copy Sony but fwiw that’s not exactly what I’m looking for them to do.

PCF can be a good pickup tho

I wonder if Microsoft may have negotiated some sort of first right of refusal deal to acquire Crystal Dynamics during the development of Perfect Dark.

I’m still not convinced Square, as a whole, will be acquired anytime soon though.

I mean, was anyone convinced that activision or bethesda were about to be acquired. I just don’t see Microsoft trying to buy crystal dynamics without trying to advance the convos to a full on acquisition of square as a whole, if they told us anything its that most companies have a price

I moreso wonder that about IOI and Asobo

I doubt with Asobo, would make sense to sign a 10 year support agreement in that case.

IOI they better have something since it sounds like that’s an “MMO”

The pain with Square is that they have some side anime and manga business. But they can always sell those to Bamco :joy:

No doubt. I do not see anybody aside Microsoft buying these two if they are available

Asobo for now is hell bent on staying independent. Like Bungie was. Who knows what will change in the future.

exactly, they can just sell off the divisions they don’t care about to Namco lol, I am not certain on how it works with ownership but Microsoft could potentially keep the game rights to the stuff like manga and anime Square works on/publishes which could be good for episodic games

A good game they own the IP for that boosts their value

  • SEGA
  • CDPR

I don’t want them, but Ubisoft is currently sitting at its 2017 market cap. Microsoft does like a good deal.

  • Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-just buy square in my opinion, it will help them much more, escpecially when it comes to veriety and breaking into Japan.
  • Asobo-The only reason I can think of on why Microsoft is yet to pick them up is they want to remain independent, if they are open to being acquired though Microsoft should
  • IoI-agreed
  • Techland-agreed
  • Ubisoft-Their stock has been tanking for a while so yeah Microsoft should definitely look at them
  • SEGA-I personally think their are much better buys, even from Japan
  • CDPR-I honestly don’t see why Microsoft would pick them up

The defensive buys are just that, defensive. If Sony is trying to buy these, MS should step in with a better offer imo.
