I just want them to buy mistwalker
damn if SEGA is doing so well why are they the least valuable major publisher? Also I like how you try to call me out for this when the other guy did the exact same thing. In terms of SEGA, they have some notable franchises but they don’t usually have wide appeal, also megaman isn’t that big of an IP and escpecially now a days
since Microsoft has shown they care most about game pass, who can expand the reach of game pass the most and since 98% of gamers are casual I see getting big names and veriety as the most important things. Like getting CoD into game pass day one will boost game pass a lot for example which is why I believe T2 is likely next, because getting the rockstar games in day one will boost the subscription numbers massively too
ok but does Microsoft want to get into the toy industry because I doubt they do
True. Some people have their own “beloved” companies, some people don’t care about japanse games, some people don’t care about big games etc.
I personally just look at IP, influence and production capability.
This, nothing more. PC gaming Is most profitable now than console market (both PS and Xbox). Looking to previous acquisitions, MS bought PC oriented studios like Obsidian and Inxile and Blizzard.
When you have one of the most important IP for the PC market, Total War (this franchise sold much more than AOE) you would probably want to take IP and the studio on board. Partnership Is not so good on a long prospective. And owns the studio itself could give you the freedom to develop other important franchise like Rise of Nations or Empire earth. Having 900 developers Who know how to develop RTS It could be a the best take for MS.
then shouldn’t Microsoft focus on mobile per that logic since it either comes close or does beat the revenue for console + PC but this point is weak as most console games come to PC either way. Also Microsoft has boughts lots of studios, activision has a major branch who supports all 3 platforms, Obsidian also makes/made console games, betheada definetly had a stack in both ect.
Oh Nick, what have you done… lol
Is it some kind of joke?
I think it’s folk jumping to conclusions. Adding 2+2 and getting 5.
the art piece is nice
While Microsoft at it, they can go after Spotify and make their own Microsoft One
Considering that their subscription service is called Game Pass, I am not sure they are interested to have other permanent subscriptions there. People associate GP with the games after all.
I mean they could always open a seprate subscription service to be fair and then have a bundle of all the subscription services they may have…not saying Microsoft will buy paramount
No, mobile It Will be the future Strategy but all stats are saying that PC gaming it’s too importa t for every publishers. Capcom said that its future strategy Will be focused on PC.
MS knows this very well. So Blizzard had have a reason because Diablo l, Warcraft RTS and StarCraft are very popular on PC. Of course, with ABK they put a foot also into the mobile market.
In this way, you could see how Sega would be very strategic for Xbox. Capcom it’s Great too but the most played games on Gamepass PC are RTS and we’ll see more in the future. Creative Assembley, Relic and BLIZZARD: you would have the best RTS developers under your umbrella.
It will create a confusion if there is suddenly another consumer subscription service with a separate pricing. Though they have Microsoft 365 and Office 365 and Windows 365 so
if they call then different enough names I don’t see whats confusing about it. Hell just keep the old name paromout plus if its that worrying to them
ok so what about the other 2 game pass platforms, mobile and Console, like ultimatlely MS would need diverity rather than dominating one platform, imagine if netflix only dominated drama’s, thats what it would feel like, not saying the can’t acquire more RTS’s or popular PC game genres, just diverity should matter more to Microsoft
RTS are also coming to Xbox. You could expect AOE4 this year.
has that even been confirmed, and nothing says they will be popular on console (not saying they won’t be, just that we don’t know yet)
I highly doubt that when they look at Sega they think about their PC market first and foremost. But the same logic they should go after Paradox. Their main hole right now is a japanese content. And they fix it one way or another.
But it is all about the opportunity - ATVI deal happened because Microsoft felt they could acquire ATVI at that moment. The biggest and the most profitable gaming publisher there basically.
I believe it is rumored and I have no doubt it is coming, but will be optimized for gamepad controls.
I will defend SEGA here, they would also fill the Japanese content gap even if it wouldn’t be as affective as square enix or capcom
Sega’s output is not enough to fill the gap. They essentially have 2 (maybe 3) medium-big japanese IP (Persona, Yakuza). They really need to have some big must have japanese game that does not depend on the third party. On PC it is easier because they will get content on PC by default and they will need just some money to bring the game on Game Pass.
With Japan the situation with the content is more dire. Like people celebrated that Soul Hackers were coming to Xbox. This should not be the case where people are happy that they game is not skipping the platform. Microsoft will try to fix it one way or another, they need that Call of Duty or The Elder Scrolls moment. I think they can achieve that by getting either Capcom (due to Monster Hunter) or Square Enix (Final Fantasy).
P.S. Though arguably even on PC there are some issues with Japanese content for Microsoft where the publisher like Square Enix provides time exclusives to other launchers (and the games sometimes are not coming day 1 on steam)
