seems MS is working with JP devs, KI Game by bandai namco, game by kojima.
I think Phil has kept his word enough that if he says he wants to do something that hasn’t happened yet, I’m just going to assume they are working it and it hasn’t happened yet because it’s hard.

With the bungie acquisition doesn’t it still need to be improved? How are they able to speak so clearly about it and already start mass hiring for different positions under the assumption it already got through.
Bungie probably wanted to make their independence clear. This kind of uncertainty could have hurt the playerbase.

Maybe they discussed conditions for the deal to be accepted by both parties, and they can talk about that already.

Dunno why but been thinking about the potential publishers they could buy next n SE tickles the back of the old neck more than others.
Sony get agressive with SE monyhats for early gen games and extend the 7R one (similar to Beth with deathloop, ghostwire and was gunning for starfield - the 1st three games of the Beth for the gen)
Also Phil went on record saying FF14 would come to Xbox a few years ago to which is hasn’t (phil doesn’t usually say this stuff without reason).
Based on the recent articles the MS board asked phil whats next after the Beth purchase (closed really early last year) to which Xbox buys NOBODY (game related) till talks with acti apparently start around early October, Seems strange but hey ho.
MS and SE announce a partnership with CD for PD around late September (24th i think) bankrolling the studio (peace offering maybe) whilst the Acti deal closes. Yes I know Darrell Gallagher was in charge of both so it would seem like an ideal fit but something is bugging me about it not just being that.
Probs lining up imaginary dots but there just maybe there might be some smoke. There may be more coincidences lining up that I ain’t thought about either.

idk getting SE now would not gain any exclusive content for whole gen, have to wait on Sony deals to expire they probably have gp preventing clause for another year…etc

I do somewhat agree, although we have no idea on the situations of KH or DQ, it is just the FF ip as of right now.
I also remember Phil mentioning he wanted to get into the JP market before or around the Beth deal but outside of tango by virtue of the Beth deal he hasn’t gotten anything else, again just seems odd considering how agressive MS has been the last few years on acquisitions.

lol, MS can’t reach its sub goals without at least some japanese gamers being invested in the platform. i expect some japanese acquisitions at some point in the future.

Going to be the case with any publisher though. It’ll take 2 years from time of announcement for the Activision/Blizzard to start producing exclusive content. I don’t think MS is backing away because of some 2 year exclusives when it’ll take 1 year to close the deal anyway.

Sony signs 2+ year deals with unannounced Square Enix games but I agree MS is playing the long game. Even if the deals lasted 2 years post acquisition they’d wait it out.

Square would indeed suck in regards to waiting but yeah, MS are thinking long term, if they have to wait years for it to finally come together, they will do it

I don’t see a Square Enix acquisition honestly, they are too tied with Sony and, even if they are an incompetent publisher, they are not crashing and burning like Zenimax and AB were, only their western division is.

Exactly MS’s Xbox isn’t like Sony’s PlayStation who needs short term gains or they’ll go bankrupt. MS can play the long game and will still come up on top.

Capcom is a definitely the MS target. I believe an Xbox insider said that MS was in talks with them before MH World released. If they put themselves on the market again MS would jump on them.
